Chapter 12- Stealing The Dream.

It's only when I lose myself…

She stood on a cliff
overlooking the ocean, the skirt of her dress blowing upward in the breeze,
revealing her strong, shapely legs. Her hair was tied in a loose chignon at the
base of her neck and the strands that fell freely around her face blew about in
the wind lending her visage a carefree yet innocent quality.
"Mistress!" a voice
called in the distance, "Mistress! Come back inside at once! The master
requests your presence!"
The beautiful lady turned from
the ocean with a soft, practiced smile on her lips. The gorgeous Chinese silk
that graced her curvy body reflected glints of golden light from the setting
sun and the jade earrings she wore practically glowed with an otherworldly
light. She was the personification of calm and elegant Asian beauty.
Until one looked into her eyes.
As she approached the servant
who had called to her from the mansion, the man did not know whether to be
aroused or just plain terrified. The woman's eyes where as beautiful as jewels,
indigo in color, framed by magnificent black lashes that curled in the most
alluring way.
However the light which might
have made those eyes say more in a single glance than one might do in an entire
lifetime, was absent. Instead of being warm and inviting, those eyes were the
eyes of one who was already dead, unable to feel or express anything. Her
marionette's smile only complimented the effect to the point where it was all
he could do not to hide his face from her own.
Brushing past him with no more
disturbance than the gentlest summer breeze, the woman swept into the house and
up the stairs, never paying any mind to the servants that scuttled out of her
path like startled sand-crabs on the way.
When she reached the top of the
stair she turned to face a large cedar door inlaid with patterns of gold.
Without a thought to what she was doing she threw it open and stalked inside.
The spacious room was appointed
with a large red and gold rug that covered the entire floor, the walls and
drapes were of a similar shade of scarlet and the four columns of the room were
covered with pressed metal, accenting the golden design on the carpet. In the
center, stood a velvet couch on which sat a devilishly handsome young man
dressed in black western styled trousers with a matching black shirt which was
unbuttoned to reveal his tightly muscled chest. Next to him sat an equally
beautiful young woman who laid her head on his shoulder so that her
outrageously long ebony tresses pooled in her lap. Her dark red dress was slit
on both sides so that almost all of her long creamy legs were exposed as she
drew them higher on the couch.
The woman who came in
approached them and fell to her knees, bending until her forehead touched the
soft fabric of the carpet below.
"What does the master
request of me?" she asked in a lilting voice.
The young man smirked at her
display of reverence. Untangling himself from the woman in the red dress, he
stood so that his shadow fell over the first woman's form.
"Beautiful one," he
rasped in an unbelievably sexy voice, "How long are you going to hold out
on me hmm?" He bent down on one knee and slipped his right hand under her
chin, causing the girl to look up. "It's been a whole month, your defenses
must be weakening by now."
The girl said nothing, only
smiled the same dead man's grin she came in with.
"Oh you are so strong
beautiful one," he whispered bringing his face closer to her own, "I
admire you for that, but no matter how strong you might be, you can't hold out
forever…" He wrapped his arms around her, pressing her face into his bare
chest as he pulled her close. "You
know this all hurts me more than it hurts you."
The woman on the couch laughed
and swung her legs over the back of the seat allowing her head to hang down
over the edge, her ebony mane spilling over like a dark waterfall to the carpet
below. "Oh surely it does dear brother," she snickered, "Oh
please, won't you let me have her? I'm sure that after a few games with me she will
sing like a nightingale."
The young man smiled into the
other woman's hair. "Yes, I have no doubts of that sister, but you simply
play too rough and I am fond of this one." He pulled her away from him so
that he could look into her face. "She intrigues me so."
The other woman righted herself
and tossed her hair haughtily, "Humph!" she huffed, "Whatever
suits you my brother, you are head warlock of this house, not I." With
that she stalked past them and out through the door.
The young man caressed the
first woman's cheek tenderly, before sweeping her up into his arms. He carried
her over to the couch and arranged her limbs in such a way that her smooth legs
and magnificent cleavage displayed themselves in the most alluring way. Although her face held no expression other
than her ever-constant smile, her cheeks flushed with the most delightful
crimson color causing her seducer to smile.
"Tell me," he
demanded as he nibbled soft kisses along her jaw line to her ear. From there he
moved down to her neck where he nipped at her flesh more earnestly as one
knowing hand slid expertly up her thigh and under her dress. "Tell
me." he repeated. The woman flinched unconsciously and his only response
was to cover her mouth with his own, his tongue slipping inside to plunder
hers.
The woman never said a word,
just lay there allowing him to do as he wished to her body, still smiling as
mindlessly as ever, always smiling…

Kaoru's eyes shot open as she
forced her breathing back under control. Turning her head slightly she watched
her husband's face to see if her gasp had woken him up. Apparently it hadn't.
He still slept as soundly as a child, the way he always did since they began
sharing the same bed. He claimed that her presence alone drove away his
nightmares.
And he was right, up to a
point. She did make the nightmares go away, but not as far away as he thought.
She had been using the same spell for years, ever since he first came to the
dojo to take his fear and anxiety away. He never suspected there was more to
her goodnight caresses of the hand or kisses to the forehead. All along, it had
been a means to his peace of subconscious mind. She had been stealing the dream
for her own.
However, with Hideki it was
different. With Kenshin, all she acquired were the feelings, which shaped his
dreams. She controlled them, pushed them to the back of her mind until morning
broke and the spell with it. However, what she had done for Hideki the day
before was much, much more. Never had she actually seen with her own mind what
the other person saw. This time, the dream had possessed her.
"I wasn't watching what
happened to her," she thought sadly, "I
was her."
It would be a few hours until
morning. As much as she wanted to, she would not approach her cousin just yet.
She would let her enjoy her moment of peace, she deserved it after what she had
suffered. Kaoru lay still as she focused her gaze on the ceiling again.
Involuntarily, a few tears welled up in her jewel-like eyes spilling over her
cheeks, before being lost in the tangle of her jet-black tresses.
"Oh Hideki," she
barely whispered, "What did they do to you?"
