Premise: Yukari-sensei assigns her students to write haiku in English.
From Sakaki:
Gray cat sleeps on fence,
beautiful with soft fur and
sharp teeth. My hand bleeds.
and
Dog, serene and white,
gently lays his head upon
my knee. This is bliss.
From Osaka:
"Edamame is
soybean," is not bean knowledge
but knowledge of beans.
From Yomi:
The cruelty of fate,
the Bonklers surrounding me,
I can not escape.
From Tomo:
I paid the machine.
Oh how cruel, there was no cup.
Tea goes down the drain.
And, even though he's not a student, Kimura-sensei makes this offering:
Nubile young bodies,
but they don't tuck in their shirts.
Oh, how depressing.
NEW! (As of March 14, 2005.)
Di, Atros, and I didn't write haiku for Chiyo, Kagura, or Kaorin, but we issued a challenge for someone to finish what we started. Sam took up the challenge and sent haiku for all the missing characters, plus a new one for Osaka.
From Kagura:
Running to the goal
I must beat my opponents
Always triumphant
From Kaorin:
Cooler than the wind.
She is the brightest of stars,
Shining Sakaki.
From Chiyo:
She knocks me over,
My lure irresistible.
Why am I so cute?
From Yukari:
I know she's scheming
We will not lose to her at
The Sports Festival
From Nyamo:
He watches my girls
As if they delighted in
his gaze. The pervert.
From the male students:
We stand in plain sight,
Never given any thought;
We, the male students.
From Chiyo-Dad:
Arms like limp noodles
Am I a cat or a man?
I'm called Chiyo-dad
From Osaka:
Oh the simple life(Thanks, Sam, for filling out the set!)
Is it hemorroid ji or chi
That is a mystery
