Title: Rescue Mission: Part 2 Author: SaturnNalia Editor: CrystalTokyo Rating: PG-13 Hi!!! This is the highly anticipated and the long awaited, part two for the Rescue Mission. Surprisingly some people like the first part and their e-mail begging (I'll believe what I want) for more, prompted me to write part two sooner then I had expected. Ahh, all this pressure to write a second part that's just as good as the first, I hope I accomplished that. So enjoy Justin's and Mina's little adventure. Justine swam like mad. Gliding through the water like a powerful shark. He was almost half a mile away from the pier, when it hit him like a ton of bricks. There was no where to swim to. Water was everywhere, the only piece of solid ground was a half mile back or he could try swimming all the way to the European continent. But that was just too much for him to take this night, maybe some other time when he was feeling stronger. "Oh, hell." Taking a break from all that swimming, Justin treaded water and tried to see what was happening on the pier. It looked like everything was back to normal. No strange creature calling out his name, as sweet as a lover and then trying to kill him. No weird blazing light saving him from doom. "I wonder who that was?" He shut his mouth with a snap as he felt something brush against his side. Oh, just great after everything that had happened this stinking night, he was going to be eaten by sharks. "I guess this a is a good a time as any to start swimming back." Taking a deep breath he swam back to the pier. All the time think that he hadn't acted in a very heroic manner. Instead of fighting back like he had been trained to do, he had ran like a coward. But a strong and fast coward, his brain amended. At least he could take pride in how fast he had ran for the water and how long he had swam. Having that settled, Justin swam with a slightly bruised ego. Of course this entire fiasco was all Mina's fault. If she hadn't dragged him out to meet her tonight, none of this would have happened. He could of spent a peaceful night by the TV set, watching his re-runs of I Dream Of Jennie. But, no, he had come tonight hoping to help a damsel in distress. And some damsel she turned out to be. A smart mouthed, little nut case. Just thinking about her made his skin crawl, or maybe that was a fish swimming in his clothes. By the time he reached the pier, Justin was exhausted. Maybe the hero business was not for him, maybe he should take up something easier like football. At lease in football he wouldn't have to put up with wise crack loonies. But with his luck he'd probably end up playing for a team she owned. Taking a hold of the ladder, Justin leaned his forehead against the wrung and breathed. "Definitely not my calling." Not a moment had passed when he heard the pounding of footsteps. "Oh, this is pissing me off." He mumbled under his breath. And why was he mumbling, anyway? Obviously the creature knew he was down here, that's why it was running in his direction. "Listen up lady I don't have any tic-tacs to help you freshen your breath. So go kill someone else with your foul breath!" Yelling this as loud as he could, Justin began to climb up. "Well, if this is what I get for saving your worthless hide, I won't do it anymore." That pesky voice. "Not you again. Can't you leave me alone. Why are you doing this to me?" He was on the verge of tears. "I just saved your life." She pointed out. Orange shoes came into view. Hadn't she been wearing some sort of black pumps, that made an annoying tapping sound? As he climbed farther up the ladder and heaved the upper portion of his soaking wet body up on the pier, her legs came into view. Yep, the same legs. Placing his cheek against he cold boards, he closing his eyes, and sighed. "Are you okay?" She asked softly. "Oh, I'm just dandy. I've been attacked twice, tree times if the piranhas in the water count. I'm soaking wet, my favorite jacket is ruined, and my only clean shirt is . . ." "Oh save your complaints for somebody who cares. I just wanted to see if you were still alive. The way you were slashing around in the water, I wasn't sure you could swim." "Then you should have thrown me a lifesaver." She giggled. "I didn't know what your favorite flavor was." "Oh you think you're hilarious, don't you? Well, Miss Stand Up-Comic your not funny at all. You are a menace to society." He didn't have enough energy to actually glare at her so he settled for stabbing his finger at her ankle. "It wasn't my fault you wouldn't believe me about the aliens." Mina kneeled at his side and gently brushed the dark hair out of eyes. She lifted one eyelid and peered at him curiously. "Your pupils aren't dilated, so I guess you're okay." "I told you I was fine. Quite pocking my eye." "Oh, and what a beautiful gray eye it is." She made a kissy face and tweaked his nose. Now that he had one eye open he noticed there was something different about her. She was all decked out in orange and white. "What's with the get up? Isn't it a little early for Hollowed?" "Now who's the comic?" She lifted an eyebrow. "Here let me help you." She put her hands under his arms and pulled. "God your heavy." She groaned as she tugged on his prone body. "If you're going to say something derogatory about my weight, I want you to stop right there. It's not fat, this is pure muscle." Let her tug, it should serve her right for getting him into this mess. He wasn't going to help her not one bit. "You know I could use a little bit of help here." Mina was using all her strength but she could seem to budge him. She narrowed her eyes, was that a content little smile curving his lips? So he was doing this on purpose huh? Didn't think she could do it did he? Well, I'll show him. Gritting her teeth, Mina pulled with a sudden burst of angry strength. She actually managed to move him and all she got for a thanks was a not so soft landing on the ground. "Ow." "Now you know what I felt like." He smirked up at her. "But it's not the same thing. You were laughing at me and I was trying to help you, there's a difference." "Really, I don't see it." "I'm not surprised. Now get off me." She placed her hands on his shoulders and tried to shove him off of her legs. "You're cutting off the circulation in my legs." Justin was about to say something, when a noise in the water stopped him. Something was splashing around in the river. "Shhh." He placed a finger to his lips and looked in the direction of the noise. "It's probably a fish." Mina whispered, but stayed quiet non the less. Justin crawled over to the edge of the pier and peered over the side. "What is it?" Mina crawled over to his side and looked down. "I can't tell it looks like . . . oh . . . my . . . GOD." Justin reared back and pulled Mina out of the way. She squeaked as she landed on her butt once more. She looked at Justin, seated next to her. "What? What is it? I didn't see anything." "I know it was a fish. I just couldn't help my self." He said that so calmly that it took Mina a minute register his words. "You threw me on my butt, just for the hell of it?" She screeched and jumped to her feet. "Yeah. You could say that." He smiled at her. "I can't believe you. You are such a child." Justin slowly stood and took in her complete out fit. "You know that looks really good on you." The short little, frilly orange skirt displayed her long legs nicely, nicely indeed. "You look like a cute little sailor girl." "I don't care what I look like to you. I think I'll go find some one else to help me look for Ami." Mina brushed passed him. "Oh yeah. I wanna see what crack pot is going to help you or even believe your ridiculous story." He yelled after her swishing skirt. Well good riddance to bad company. He didn't need to hang around ungrateful, wise cracking, loud mouthed people like her. She must be nuts if she thought that anyone would be willing to help her. A detective would probably charge her a mountain of money and still not find Ami. He couldn't wait to see her broke, without a penny; she won't act all high and mighty then. Justin smiled to himself. After a few moments his smile disappeared. The poor girl, trying to find her good friend and one was willing to help. It was kind of sad, because he knew no one would help her. Who would believe a ridiculous story about alien abductions. But he believed. He wouldn't have if he hadn't been attacked by one just a few minutes ago. And she had saved his life. So maybe she could be a little obnoxious, but then so could he. Ami was a good person and she deserved to live a normal life, not being held by some kidnapper aliens. He had waited his whole life for a chance to prove to the Society that he was worthy of being included in their exclusive circle. So this might be his only chance. Ignoring the fact that he was soaked to the skin, Justin hopped on his bike and went in search of Mina. The cold wind blasted his face. Oh, he was going to pay for this night, big time tomorrow. Where did she go? She couldn't have walked far. She was on foot and he was a motorcycle. She wasn't the road runner, for Christ sake. I just saved your life. Her voice rung in his head. Saved his life. "What the hell?" Justin stopped his bike and looked down at the handlebars. The yellow blazing light. That had been Mina? No it couldn't have been. Now he really had to catch her. He couldn't wait for this explanation. The lady was extremely strange. Lifting his head, he spotted Mina. Talk about weird, she was back in her black business suite. Her long blond hair swished this way and that, as she walked in quick angry strides. "Hey, Mina. Wait up." He rode over to her. "What do you want?" She barked without looking at him. "I've come bearing great news. I'll help you find Ami." Justin smiled and prepared to receive her gratitude. "Shove off Justin I don't need your help. I'll find somebody who is less annoying." She kept on walking and not looking at him. "Come on, get real. You know nobody is going to believe you." "I'll make them believe me. Maybe others aren't as hard headed as you." He drove his bike in front of her which stopped her from walking any further. "Listen to me. I am the only one who believes, the only with the equipment to help you, the only one willing to help you, the only . . . " Mina placed her hands over her ears. "Okay, okay. Just shut up." "Ahh, I knew my charm would win you over." Draping his hands across the handle bars, Justin smiled and winked at her. Mina rolled her eye. "Yeah, your charm is unbelievable." "I know." "How can you live with a head so full of hot air?" "Let's not start fighting , okay? I just have one question for you. How did you do that light thing?" Oh shoot. How was she going to explain this one. "Ah . . . well . . . umm . . ." "No don't tell me, you're like superman. You can just hop in to a telephone booth and change into a super hero." That explanation was so ridiculous, Justin began laughing. Mina swallowed nervously. "Well actually . . ." "No don't say it." He sobered up instantly when he noticed she wasn't laughing with him. Raising his hand, he stopped her from speaking. Mina bit her lower lip and began to twirl her hair around her little finger. "Maybe you're just not ready for the truth right now." She suggested. His jaw was hanging open. He just couldn't believe it. She was claiming to be a super hero. What the hell was he thinking, getting mixed up with her. "Since you're too lazy, I'll do it for you." Mina simply smiled serenely and with one finger under his chin, closed his mouth for him. Justin shook his head to clear it. "So where do you live?" "Why want to ask me on a date?" Her serene smile turned teasing. "Don't get cute with me. I just need to know where I can reach you if I need you." But he couldn't stop a light blush from covering his cheeks. "I'm staying at the Grand Hotel on 48th Street. And you do realize we're going to work on this case together, because you are definitely going to need my help." She crossed her arms and studied him. He had really nice eyes for an ill mannered ape. "Yeah, yeah. You already know where I live. By the way how did you get in?" He narrowed his eyes. "You wouldn't believe how simple it was to bypass your security system. A little nudge here and a little snip there, and the door just magically opened." "Are you serious? That was the top of the line model. It was supposed to be tamper proof. Somebody is going to get a complaint letter tomorrow." Justin shook his head and tried to remember the name of the company that made that model. "No I was joking. I know next to nothing about electronics. You forgot to lock your door." "Crippes. I can't believe I did that." "Don't worry dear, it happens. But I've got to go now. I'll call tomorrow and we can start on our search." She went around his bike and with a wave and an air kiss she was gone. "That is one strange lady." Justin shook his head and started his motorcycle. Before he had gone a block, his engine died. "Oh great." He got off and began to fiddle with the engine. "What the hell are all these wires?" "Justin." His head snapped up. "Not again." He turned toward the sound. "Justin, I think we need to speak." The quiet even voice came from the shadows of an ally. "Roarke is that you." Justin squinted into the darkness. "Justin I don't believe you are using all of your potential. The only reason you were allowed to join the Society at such an early age was because of all the promise you showed as a child. Now you have forsaken your gift. You must regain it or you will be forever lost. Heed my words, Justin." Roarke always spoke in riddles. "I'll try." "You must do more then try. You must get your gift back or else you will never defeat the evil that surrounds you and your future." He didn't want to offend the Master, but Justin had no clue what the Master was talking about. "Yes, Master." What he just agreed to he had no idea. Out of no where hands grabbed his wrists and his shoulders. "What the . . ." Justin turned his head to see no one behind him. He was all alone in the street, but hands kept pulling at him. Dragging him down through the pavement. "Fight it Justin." "But Master . . ." "I can not help you any longer my boy, you must learn how to use your gift." Roarke's voice was becoming fainter and more far away. "Who's going to save you now?" A voice taunted. "Not that pretty Mina." Another voice answered and laughed demonically. "No." He yelled. Justin began to struggle against the hands. But it was no use, they were too strong. "Justin you are much stronger then they are. Fight them, damn it." Roarke's voice boomed in his head. "How? I don't know how to fight them. I can't see them." "Use your gift." Roarke raised his voice in anger. "What gift? I don't have one." "Let him go." Roarke was calm again. Instantly the hands disappeared. "Justin you must do better next time. I will not be around to save you and neither will Mina." "How do you know about Mina?" Justin yelled as frustration well within him. "Come back, damn you. Answer me." But there was no one to answer him. Justin lay on the pavement panting and trying to catch his breath. He was alone in the night, with no answers and nothing but questions. Well hope you enjoyed that addition to the story. Aren't Mina and Justin just sooo perfect for each other? Hope part two kept you entertained and hungry for more.
