You Need
To Read!

This page is designed with the ESOL student in mind. As a result, it is a work in progress. I believe reading is of great importance to the language learner and that Kraschen's theories  of Comprehensible Input is of great value to teachers across the board.

Here you will find links with brief descriptions, aimed mainly at high-school and even adult learners. The links contained herein lead to stories of different kinds. News stories, fictional stories, folk tales, fairy tales, stories in many different kinds of languages.
Also included are links that will benefit ESOL teachers. Links that will lead to news stories and ideas on how to incorporate them into day-to-day lesson planning.
The internet can be of immense help for students looking for texts in their L1. Not only with finding actual books, but simple reading materials such as eZines and news from home.
Further it can be of assistance to the student looking to reconnect with their roots and learn more about their heritage. Many students who left their homes at a young age will find these links to be of use for them.
If you know of links to online anthologies or news sources that you believe would fit, please eMail them to me at [email protected]
