Before the production of the MS-14A Gelgoog, the Commander Type Gelgoog was issued to a select group of ace pilots for testing purposes. One such pilot was Char Aznable, the "Red Comet", who fought the RX-78-2 Gundam in the abandoned Texas Colony at Side 5. After the testing period, all the test units were put into combat.
