wiccanning

Wiccanning is similar to christening in the Christian religion. It is performed the night of or the night after the new child is born. It is done by the parents and/or the midwife if the midwife is a friend of the family's. This is an example of how a Wiccanning would go, however, it is an extremely person event and you should definitely modify it to fit your lifestyle.

Place the child on the ground, hand us head and say:
                                            "Hail Earth, Mother of all,
                                            This is my infant, my love,
                                            And my jewel.

                                            Bless and protect him/her.
                                            Granting your enduring and eternal.
                                            Strength and stead fastness.
                                            May he/she ever have a spirit,
                                            That seeks the stars,
                                            And roots deep with
                                            Thy loving breast."
