Book of Shadows

I don't give out spells on this site for a particular reason. I believe that spells can only work to their fullest potential if it is one crafted only by yourself. I mean, your energy is the power that guides and makes the spell work anyway, so wouldn't it only weaken the spell if you used someone elses? It's really not all that hard, wouldn't you want to try to make your own spell anyway? It's so fun! You don't have to make up a poem or chant or dance around in a circle, it's really not all that complex of a system once you break it down. Well, since I feel guilty for not givin gyou any spells I will at least provide you with an outline to construct your own spells. Trust me, they work better!

                             Spell Outline

1. Define the goal of the ritual.
    Example: I want help in finding a job.

2. Decide when and where you will work your magick keeping in mind the lunar phases.
    Example: Check out the link above for a description on the phases of the moon.

3. Find or create an appropriate chant for the spell.
    A simple rhyme will do, but it is not necessary. As long as you get your point across, that is all that matter.
    Example: Spoke three times around
                    The spell will be bound
                    Luck, wealth, prosperity,
                    With those three words,
                     So mote it be!

4. If you will be invoking a god or goddess, decide on which one and write out any special prayers that you will use to call that deity.
    Example: "Hecate, Dark Goddess, I call thee!"

5. Plan how you will visualize your goal in your mind.
    Example: If you wish to obtain a job with this goal, in your mind picture yourself obtaining the job, working at the job, being happy and prosperous as if you already have the job/

6. Decide on any correspondences such as herbs, colors, elements, that you want in your ritual. Decide on how to include them in the ritual.
     Example: Green would be the best color to use to achieve luck/wealth so you could use a green candle.

Now, after you have all of this information ready, you are finally ready to do your magick! At the appropriate time gather all the items you will be using in your spell and go to your sacred space where you will be performing the ritual.

1. Cast your circle.

2. Invite whatever deities you wish to have present. Light your incense.

3. Clear your mind and begin visualizing, as noted above, the goal of your spell. Say it out loud if you want.

4. Picture the energy coming from your body that you have raised either through chant or visualization.

5. Light candles, charge stones, dance, sing, do whatever you need to do to focus and raise energy for the spell. This is when your involve the correspondences.

6. At this point, when you feel as if you've done everything you can and have raised enough energy within your body, send the energy out to do your will. Open your arms wide and visualize the energy escaping from you, being released to do your will.

7. Usually witches finish their spells by stating "So mote it be," or "This is my will, so it shall be." This is a sign of closure and simply stating that you are confident that your magick will be successful.

8. Close your circle, thank the deities who have aided you in your magick.

9. Ground your energy.

10. Celebrate. Have cakes and ale or cookies and juice.

11. Now, here comes the good part. Record your very own spell in your very own Book of Shadows and save any remaining items taht you wish in your personal witch's box.
