Later that night, while the Guardians were settling in for the night, Vlad heard a scream outside. When he looked out he saw Camillen being attacked by a group of men. Without telling the Guardians Vlad raced outside to stop them. He chased them for a while until he was very far way from the inn. He got the group cornered and demanded her release, but that was when they sprung their trap.

Alone, Vlad did not think he could defend himself from the attackers. He fell down and crawled to a corner cowering much like he had done during the Battle at Mutawna plains. But there was no one to come save him this time, Camillen fought back against the mercenaries but was knocked aside and fell hard to the ground. Pinning her down and pointing a sword at her chest, the mercenaries were about to kill her. At that moment Vlad found courage that he never knew he had, he got up and fought back against them with his sword. They knocked it out of his hand and then grabbed his arms to hold him in place. Unable to move, Vlad grit his teeth and reached down into a place inside himself. A place where an unknown power had been lying dormant. An energy began coursing through him and he released all of his malice and hate in a kinetic blast that killed those holding him and knocked the rest unconscious. The next day Vlad envisioned Camillen as a Guardian and asked her to join them, knowing what great adventure lay before them Camillen accepted his offer.

Though unknown to everyone, Camillen is actually the daughter of an Elvish Lord. Her adventurous spirit conflicted with the life of royalty so she ran away long ago to the city of Javole. She is a competent fighter and excels at using a crossbow. Her crossbow is modified to allow for quick reloading, which gives her a fire rate faster than most archers. Very warmhearted to other people she is a joy to be around. Through her, Vlad finds strength that he never thought he had. Though he does not know why, perhaps through their journeys the answer can be found.
