WELCOME TO LUMMIBEADERS HOMEPAGE

Welcome to my beading site where I can share with other beaders, display my work, and share a little light to the world.  A bowl of beautiful beads sparkling in the sun, glittering with sparkles that dance in your eyes.  I could get lost in a bowl of beads.    The world of beading has not always been the most excitement that I enjoy because I do have a real life.  I have been married to the same man for the past 30 yrs and have enjoyed my journey so far.

I was adopted as an infant when I was stolen from my natural family and raised in a non-Native home.  So at an early age I suffered a loss of my own culture.  Even though I have excelled in my own life and have been somewhat successful there had always been something missing.  I found my family in 1992, and moved to my home reservation of the Lummi Indian Nation in the pacific northwest in 1998.  Before my coming home I worked hard and used my brains to learn something in every challenge.   It has been a real challenge to get to know my over 4,000 relatives.  My parents are no longer here, but the experience of being home and seeing the world through different eyes.  When I started beading in 1992, I found a little project in the local craft shop and tried to complete it.  My first few tries we just trying to keep the beads straight and the knots gone.  Over the years I have beaded many designs, some mine - some not, but beautiful just the same.  I have some of my own designs  that I enjoy making.
ABOUT ME

I was adopted as an infant in 1952 when I was stolen from my family and raised in a non-Native home.  So at an early age I suffered a loss of my own culture.  Even though I have excelled in my own life and have been what I consider to be somewhat successful.  I have always tried to do the right thing and be positive, but even so there was always something missing.  I found my family when I  began a search in 1992, and communicated with my oldest sister until I moved to my home reservation in the Pacific Northwest in 1998.  Before coming home I worked hard as a dental technician in the army and later as an accountant for the federal government.  In 1998, my husband, of 30 years, and I basically retired when the government downsized and many jobs were lost and people were forgotten.  I began beading in 1992, but had other craft interests including crochet, knitting, counted cross stitch, and basically anything that was neat to do.  When I found out about safety pin jewelry I made myself several sets in key colors and felt proud that I could have a complete set to wear.
