The History of Modern Wicca
w/ magickian Anna Leue
The practice of Wicca as a distinct religion really began in the 1940s. But where did it come from? What connection does Wicca really have to the ancient practices described by the umbrella term "witchcraft"? What was happening in the '30s and '40s which gave birth to this distinctive practice? And how has Wicca developed since that time into a truly new form of spirituality? In "the History of Modern Wicca," we will take a look at the development of modern witchcraft, starting with Gerald Gardner and his associates in the 1930s and working both backward and forward in time to create an overview of Wicca's past. This discussion oriented class will culminate in a free vocalization exercise in celebration of who we have become. People of all faith are welcome.
$15 pre-registered, $20 at the door.
