Ø      The UMYF will not meet today, (Happy Easter!) but will meet at 6pm on Sunday, April 18th.  See you there!

ATTENTION GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND PARENTS!!  We need to know who you are – we don’t want to leave anyone out of the video that will honor this year’s graduates.  Call Lara at the church (645-2727) right away, please!

THE UNITED METHODIST MEN will hold their monthly meeting this Wednesday, April 14th at 6pm.  Please mark the attendance register with “MM” if you plan to attend.  Please plan now to come and enjoy this special time of fellowship.

THE BOYS SCOUTS will be having a chicken barbecue dinner fund raiser here at LUMC on Saturday, April 17th.  The menu will be barbecued chicken half, cole slaw, barbecued beans, roll and dessert.  The dinners are available only on a take-out basis and can be picked up between noon and 1pm.  The cost is only $6.00 per dinner and tickets may be purchased from Jordan Godbey, Slayter Tuckwiller, Eric Liebendorfer, or  any Boy Scout  or at the Open Book in Lewisburg, or by calling 645-6131.  All proceeds will help pay for Troop 70’s trip to Japan this summer.  Thank you for your support of this project.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE TRAINING:  How can we expand the volunteer services provided by our congregation to our own church family?  Please join us on April 26, Monday at 7:00pm in the Asbury Room to focus on the care needs of our congregation.  We will provide opportunities to improve your volunteer skills.  We offer praise and thanks for our members who already volunteer their time and talents to others.  We will explore service opportunities including:  Peer Counseling, Friendly Visitation, Handyman services, Transportation for appointments and errands, Lawn care, Adopting a Shut-in or a Grandparent, Barter Systems.  This event is being sponsored by the Council on Ministries, Family Life Committee, and the Work Area for the Retired and Older Adults.  We encourage you to call the church office, 645-2727 to sign up or if you can not attend to let us know of your interest.  Judy Long, Parish Nurse, will facilitate our discussions.

CAR WASH:  It is Spring at last!  Come and get your car washed next Saturday, April 17th,  from 10am – 2pm at City National Bank in downtown Lewisburg.  Proceeds benefit the persons taking part in the 2004 Volunteers-In-Mission trips.  Thank you for your support!

COMMUNITY EVENT:  The 8th annual Ruritan Roundup will be held Saturday, April 17th from 4 to 8pm at the WV State Fairgrounds.  The event cost $10.  It will include entertainment, the opportunity to meet local authors and will include dinner by chefs of The Greenbrier.  You may purchase a ticket at the library, from Ruritan members or at the door.  All profits will be given to the local library.

AN ITALIAN THEMED MISSION MEAL will be held next Sunday, April 18th, following the 11am worship service.  Seven members of the LUMC congregation plan to take part in the United Methodist Volunteers-In-Mission trips this year.  Proceeds from this meal will benefit their expenses as they represent LUMC as part of the different mission trip teams.  Don’t bring a thing!  We’ll have plenty of food.  Hope to see lots of you there!

FROM THE LUMC MISSION COMMITTEE:  The Celebration of Mission Event (C.O.M.E.) will be held on Saturday, April 24th from 9am – 3pm at the Greenbrier Valley Mall.  Although this is an annual event, it has never been held so close to us before!  This event raises money to help fund and support the United Methodist Mission Projects in WV such as McDowell Mission.  Individuals and groups in the church are asked to make baked goods, crafts, or make monetary donations to this project.  Please have all donations turned into the church office by Friday, April 23rd.  People also need to sign up to work the LUMC booth.  Please call the church office at 645-2727 if you are able to help with this, and we’ll pass your name along to the Mission Committee.  And finally, please plan to attend and support this event!  There will be food to buy, crafts to purchase, and a fabulous auction to take part in!
