The Artist of Charity

The artist; far more apt to discourse between illusion and reality
Forever making him obsolete within a concrete mind
Strong are his powers of impression
Weak is his ownership of the past
Wayward thinking is only what he can grasp

A honing stone he is not
Preservation is he for his evasiveness
Truly he is absorbed in youth
A new world he urges to be contrived
The just world utters not a truth in his mind

Terra firma is but below
Mansions of dreams are all held above in the future
His dreams you cannot see; but will emerge in time
And so he has changed the changeless world
By lull stone by stone he builds the dream
An utopia and Elysium serene

But there was opposition held by the forest
"Let the stones lie"; cried the waters
But I do need to borrow cried the artist
I shall give back to you the gift of eyes
'Tis time we together must survive

And astonished they were of the lofting organizations
In small numbers of will, perpetuated the equilibrium
Together we are the co-creators of ascending illustration
I shall preserve you by lending me clay
And I shall honor you by the parch for my thoughts
And the stones and trees did agree
For art was given an oath
To the contriver of imagination, the artist of charity
Free to create
