Winter Hope

My dear friend

Since your hiding I have no care

Despair has ailed my twine

And thus worse shall fall behind in this dead earth

I have lost accompaniment

The strings have been robbed from my instrument

I lay cold bare skin wishing you

You were the green earth

The bright and allure I could not stand against

You a ferry to carry my languid body across the stream

You were my chastely escape when dormancy arises

Why now the dim and gray?

Rains that cry on my cheek

Once a daydream in the subtle shade

Now a shadow overwhelms and stretches vastly over me

Silenced you are my dear friend

I shall await thee until spring blooms again

As I am laden upon this hearth fretting to avert

In mind and somewhere far off in the sky

Lay you my noble friend there in oblivion

With whom do you hide and when will you shine?
