The color of October
A mingling of red and yellow
O f zeal and singing voice
Together; simply affected
Passion has equally cooled
As much as the wondering mind
Who knew not the bright center of deepest joy
The sky turns to a heaven
And the trees turn to glow
Of the same hue they show
The hopeful has merged with the knowing
The lover has forgiven the foe
Affronts end with each a hung head
From inside a grace greatly bursts open
A sanctuary is given an eternal home
The color that weighs in equilibrium
The sound of a choir boasts the transition
The savoring of fermentation
All is fully ripe to consume
That in which brings loft and air
To the wondrous draping moon
We merry together and cheer
A toast tonight
We feel and see a light of farewell
That is surrounding us
That color and that light
Be astoundingly; orange
The color of October
