[FANFIC RECS]
Title: "The True Story of the Butterfly and the Bumblebee"
Author: Renay
Fandom: Final Fantasy VIII
Rating: Pg-13ish
Warnings: Some language
Length: 10,000+ words
Description: Seifer has been experiencing some dicomforting feelings as of late, and it all seems to have something to do with a certain classmate whose head may or may not resemble a chicken.
So here's how it goes people: I will basically rec anything by Renay, at least anything I've read thus far, because she is a goddess of fanfiction and deserves to be worshipped as such. (Too much? Nah.) This story is adorable in ways that cannot be adequately described with real words. "ASDPFLAKSDNFPAOSDGPADS" basically sums it up. Anyone who has played FFVIII should read this, even if you don't ship the pairing (my question: WHY?), because it just feels so right that the pairing doesn't really even matter (even if it is my favorite). It's just that good. The characterisation, the interraction, the shear hilarious absurdity of the entire situation, the fact that she leaves us all gaping at the end with a "WTF?! SEQUEL, NOW" look on our faces. Read it. Now. (Sefer/Zell)

Title: "How Not to Date Blondes"
Author: Sev and Enkida
Fandom: Final Fantasy VIII
Rating: Pg-13
Warnings: Shear unbridled joy?
Length: 15 chapters (on-going)
Description: This story blindsided me. It focuses on a pairing I never even considered possible, one that seems so OUT THERE and ridiculous that the most remarkable thing about this story is how well it actually works! The authors take a seemingly impossible crack pairing and work it seamlessly into a perfectly plausible, thoroughly enjoyable plot, resulting in one truly marvelous story. The romance is great; the supporting cast is great; the humor is great; the action is great; the characterization is perfect in every way. In the end, you will beg the fandom gods for more of this wonderful pairing (you never would have taken seriously before), only to realize that only these two authors could possibly do such a wonderful job with it. (Zell/Quistis)

Title: "Devotion"
Author: DK
Fandom: Final Fnatasy VIII
Rating: R
Warnings: Everything: blood, language, violence, torture, mad crazy death
Length: 10,000+ words
Description: First an foremost, allow me to issue a warning: this is not a story for everyone. It's intense, graphic, disturbing, and downright creepy at times. It's also scary in it's realism. Beneath everything--the GF's, the magic, the sorceresses--Garden is and always has been a military-based mercenary organization. They kill people for money. They train 15-year-old orphans to kill people for money. And despite our love for these characters as fans of the franchise, they are just that: killers, whether by duty or by choice. Rinoa Heartily, a character for whom I am fast developing a some sympathy, has fallen into their dark world of political scandal, seedy assasinations, and questionable ethics, blinded by her love for one man whose heart reamins encased in ice. Despite being a scorceress, she is, above all else, a normal teenage human being who until now has remained, like most of us, unaware of war's true horror. This is her story. It's not an easy tale to dredge through, but if you're a fan of the game, you pretty much have to. (Squall/RInoa)

Title: "After Ultimecia"
Author: Kenji
Fandom: Final Fnatasy VIII
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Yaoi, lemon, language, innuendo, angst
Length: 36 Chapters
Description: A sort-of sequel, AU (Alternate Universe) Final Fantasy VIII fic by Kenji, following the lives of Squall and his companions after the defeat of Ultimecia and their struggles coping in the new world. Rife with drama, cute humor, action, romance, and in classic Poison-Ink style, delicious lemons! While certainly one of the best FFVIII fics, this still remains one of my favorite Kenji creations, in not for entirely nostalgic purposes, then for Rinoa getting blown up.
Rinoa-lovers beware. Major yaoi warning. (Squall/Zell) (Seifer/OC)
Overall rating: 8/10
Title: "Bishies Without Shirts" or "The Day that Inuyasha and Sesshomaru Lost Theirs"
Author: Kira and Nanda
Fandom Inuyasha (duh)
Rating: R
Warnings: Naughty language, crude humor, angst
Length: 44 (very long) chapters
Description: This story came out years ago. I use to check religiously to see if it was updated. This is the hilarious tale of what happens when you put the two demon brothers under one roof and give them some ramen. Despite being a tad bit on the long-winded side, it happens to be a great read for anyone who likes the series. (Inuyasha/Kagome) (Sesshoumaru/OC)
Overall Rating: 8/10
[ORIGINAL STORY RECS]
Title: "Bleeding Moon"
Author: Kenji & Jesse
Fandom None
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Yaoi, lemon, blood, gore, violence
Length: 42 chapters (on-going)
Description: Kenji and Jesse have teamed up to bring us a deliciously spooky (yet somehow cute) werewolf story! How nice of them. Actually, this story is NOT for kiddies, especially those with weak stomachs or a distaste for gay sex in public restrooms. Anyway, the plot: Jeff Blade is the most popular guy in school; he has a seemingly perfect life; all is at peace in his world...until he captures the interest of Tristan, a suave and cocky British werewolf. Soon some very strange things start happening, mosters attack Jeff relentlessly, people turn up dead in the streets, and the beginnings of a supernatural war start to surface...

[COMIC RECS]
Title: "8-Bit Theatre"
Author: Brian Clevinger
Fandom Final Fantasy...sort of
Rating: R
Warnings: Blood, crude humor, innuendo
Description: The world-famous, HILARIOUS web-comic by Brian Clevinger. Using simple 8-bit sprites and his own twisted imagination, the author (artist?) has created a legacy in this tale of the Light Warriors and their loose morals in their quest for treasure, magic, and pooty-tang. Oh, and um, Destiny, I guess.
Overall Rating: 10/10
Title: "Vampire Phantasm"
Author: Sarah N.

Rating: R
Warnings: Blood...lots of it
Description: The sweet vampire comic straight from Vermillion Works. Tells the story of Jack, the vampire and, well, I can't really put much here without spoiling anything. Just read it. Note: There are two different versions of this comic. Both are available at the link above.
