SUMMER 2000

I order to keep something going on this page I decided to fill you all in on what I am doing now - after working at LBR whenever I return to Thailand.
And last summer I've spent a total of 6 whole weeks in Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya. So lets say that this page here is dedicated to the years after 2000! And anything from now on will be added.
2001/02 I had the great opportunity to spend 11 days in my beloved Thailand again. Finally after many years I had the luck to see a bit of the northern parts too.WE took a Thai Airways Plane up to Chiang Rai...interesting enough for me was the fact that the airport has no taxi ways...all incomming flights have to taxi back to the small terminal on the runway. What impressed me most wasn't all too much the counrtyside..it dosn't differ that much from central thailand exept that it is much cooler and a bit more hilly, but once again certain tempels glooming in the morning sun, reflecting its shy light in a million of tiny mirrows, a sculpute of a dragan, the peace in the tempels disturbed only by the masses of tourists...how wonderfull must it be if one could all look them out of a while..? I will also always love the markets, all the exotic things, food, the smells, and the looks from the vendors. Another day, being in a tropical rainforrest always is an impressiv and humble feeling. Seeing siamese elephants can only top the thing, even if they are not wild anymore.. Right now I will let the pictures speak for themselfes...

Of people that have touched my heart - i hope to see many of you this year!!!
Weekendtrip to the 'Dachstein Tauern' Region with my colleague Sabine in February. Excellent skiing - powder snow - NO people on the slopes at ALL and really really 'healthy' food - YUMM!!! (I'll have to suffer for that for the next few weeks...) Sabine and me having dinner at the 'Schloss Moosheim'... www.schloss-moosheim.at I am obviously enjoying myself - and why wouldn't i???
Skiing trip to the mountains with Sabine in February! Perfect powder snow, empty slopes, delicious food (for which I will have to suffer at the gym for weeks), lots of fun. Only our skiing boots were giving us a hard time!

A few days later - couldn't avoid it! :-) ...my birthday was on the scedule. For once, which hardly every happens - i celebrated it in Vienna - with several very loyal and good friends to keep me company in person, in writing or via Phone. Unfortunatly i dont have all of them on one picture - so this will have to do:

Nassau - Home of my heart
Of course i spent my obligatory 3 weeks in the Bahamas again - a little bit later than i usually do - but since this years winter was so long it didn't matter much! I was lucky to meet new friends - Tom and Eric for example and spent a wonderfull time there again. Every day is precious!
March 2006 at the 'Ocean Club' on Paradise Island
Bangkok/Phuket april-may
Gosh - now that was a lucky AND unusual one. I was able to go on a business trip to Bangkok - the Conference i was attending only lasted 3 days - so i went down to Phuket over the weekend. Apart from the fact that 3 out of 4 flights got completely mixed up - I also had a unwanted experience with a rat hiding in my pants in downtown Bangkok. That would have been much to Uans liking - she always used to humor about my ability to catch things in my pants (jellyfish to be precise) and told me for my 28th birthday that i should consider making new experiences... I think this qualifies does it not Uan? :-) The picture here was taken at Lyan Beach on Bang Tao.

Paris and Berlin - September 2006 This month of September is getting increasingly busy in many ways. I took short trips to both Paris (4 days) and Berlin (1 day). Both weekends were extremely nice and offered perfect late summer weather, nice company and lots of new things and places to discover! I think - the place i liked best in Paris was the little church of "St. Chapelle", which higher chapel is constructed solemnly of stained glass windows -providing a breath-taking caleidoscpic effect when you have to good luck of being there at the right time - with the right sunlighting. Berlin of course was very different - impressive by it's huge modern architecture in the former eastern part. The cupola of the Reichstag is absolutely stunning and i am looking forward to returning there at dawn. But also the Sony Center close to the Potsdammer Platz is worth seeing!!! Enjoy the impressions I was able to capture in 'film'.
