William J. Reilly

RENSSELAER William J. (Baz) Reilly, age 78 years, died Monday, April 4, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Rensselaer, he was the son of the late Joseph D. and Mary Delaney Reilly. Mr. Reilly attended St. John's Academy in Rensselaer and Russell Sage College where he earned a degree in accounting. He worked for the city of Rensselaer as an accountant for 25 years, retiring in 1992 and also was a tax preparer for 25 years. He was a lifelong communicant of St. John's Church in Rensselaer and a member of the Holy Names Society. Mr. Reilly was also a member and past treasurer of the Rensselaer Democratic Organization and a former Merchant Marine. Survivors include two brothers, Richard F. (Mary) Reilly and Paul J. (Anne) Reilly, both of Rensselaer. William was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph V. (Anne) Reilly, Thomas J. (Ann) Reilly and William H. Reilly; uncle of J. Michael Reilly, Anne M. Vadney, Robert T. Reilly, Katherine Luke, John V. Reilly, Carolyn Bell, Thomas Reilly, Kathleen Campion, Judith Roberts, James Reilly, Peggy Miller, Gerard Reilly, Kevin R. Reilly, Mary E. Reilly (daughter of Richard), Joanne Walsh, Richard F. Reilly Jr., Christine Regels, Kathleen Brust, Susan Reilly, Mary Reilly (daughter of Paul) Michael Reilly, Carol Hayden, Jeanne Waterbury, William Reilly, Timothy Reilly and Colleen Reilly. Also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Thursday morning at 9:30 and 10:30 at St. John's Church, Herrick Street, Rensselaer where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
