Ronald Wilson Reagan
             1911-2004
Thank you, Mister President. Your life, your legacy, and your love for this nation will never be forgotten.
"We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared,
so we may always be free."

- Ronald Reagan's Address to the Nation, January 16, 1984
Welcome. Thank you for joining me in a celebration of the life of Ronald Reagan. Few of you may know the tremendous impact this great man had on America. Ronald Reagan was arguably the best president this country has ever had, and is unarguably one of the best.  He held to the belief that government was not the solution to, but the cause of America's problems.
President Reagan restored America's faith in itself, and reausred us that as Americans, there is no problem too great, no barrier too strong, and no struggle too arduous for us to triumph over. He broadened our horizons, all the while bringing us closer together. Here's to you, Mister Reagan. Thankyou
For everything you accomplished, and for everything the gift of your life will still inspire us to achieve. We will love you forever, and you will always be regarded as the Father of Modern America.
"There are no such things as limits to growth, because there are no limits on the human capacity for intellegence, imagination and wonder."

- Address to the University of South Carolina, Columbia, September 20, 1983
Often times, we grow acustomed to noticing politicians, especially those of high rank, who seem to work according to an agenda, the details of which are often times known only to them. We are used to being decieved by both parties, and it often leaves one wondering where to turn. Reagan had no hidden agenda, and fought tirelessly for seven years to stop a nation built around one, the former Soviet Union.
The Soviet Union (USSR [United Soviet Socialist Republic]), lead by Mikhail Gorbachev from the mid 1960's untill it's collapse during the latter years of Reagan's presidency, was a nation built around fear and restrictions. Throughout the sixties and seventies, America lived in fear of this communist power. The cold war continued to escalate into the mid eighties, and was reaching a boiling point. Through the use of diplomacy and intellegence, Reagan was able to dismantle the USSR and all of it's counterparts in Europe. He was responsible for the dismantling of a terror spreading regime. It is because of this man that you and I are able to sleep soundly at night, unafraid of Soviet attacks. This is perhaps the single most important act related to United States national security in history.
"From time to time, we have been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. But if noone among us is capable governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else?"

-First inaugural address, January 1980
