Saucy Mary: The Legend
Our hostel was called Saucy Mary's.  The ruins you clicked on to get to this page, are the ruins of an ancient viking castle.  From this castle a chain crossed the narrow inlet of the loch.  Passing ships would have to pay a toll to have the chain removed and enter the loch.
According to legend when ships paid the toll, Mary would run up to the castle, have the chain removed, and flash the passing ships.  Hence she became known as Saucy Mary.
The hostel was alot of fun, especially since the sheets were already on the bed!  We arrived and spent some time hiking around the area.  Then, against our drivers warnings, we played some local kids in pool for a pint and lost!
We sat around playing Scottish pool and talking to Craig, one of our guides.  We then found out that there was a Kaylee (traditional Scottish dance) happening.  A new town meeting hall had just been built, so they were having a Kaylee to close the the old town hall.
So Kyle, the Columians, and I went to the dance with Craig.  We had a great time.  The band had guitars and accordians.  We had trouble understanding what they were saying, but Craig helped us with some of the dances, and the rest we learned by trial and error!
After the dance we went to bed (after a little pillow talk).  I got up at 5:30 and hiked to the ruins of the viking castle (it was quite the wet walk).  We had breakfast and left for a little tour of Skye!
