| The Engagement Story |
| The plan started coming together after Luke and his roommate Dan, picked out the ring on Friday, December 12. Luke had told Kim that he needed some time to hang out and relax with Dan (watching Zoolander). Little did she know! Kim played Mary in their church's Christmas production. After the show Kim and Luke went to give her parents their presents (so we didn't have to lug them to their house later). Luke told Kim that he wanted ride with her parents to her car. Once in Kim's parent's car, Luke asked "Would it be o.k. with both of you if I asked your daughter to marry me?". Of course they said yes. Flash forward to Monday. After Bible Study, Luke said he wanted to open Christmas presents. Kim hesitated, but then gave in. Luke gave Kim a white gold bracelet with diamonds. She gave Luke a new travel back-pack and tickets to see the Rolling Stones. =) Little did she know that this was only part of her present! The next day Luke suggested that they take a drive to see the Christmas lights and then for blizzards at our Dairy Queen in DeMotte. After viewing some lights they hit the highway. About 3 miles from the Dairy Queen, Luke blurted out "I think I ran over something; we better check it out." Kim was annoyed b/c she wanted to make it to Dairy Queen. We pulled off in a dirt driveway where Luke exited the car. He then took the ring from his pocket and placed it in the treads of the tire. He opened the car door and asked Kim to come and take a look at the tire b/c there was something in it. She huffed and puffed but came to take Luke. Look was already on one knee taking a look at the tire. Kim reaches for "the thing" on the tire and is about to toss it, when Luke takes hold of it and looks up at Kim and says "Kim I love you, will you marry me?". Kim's response, and I qoute, was "Are you serious (in a sarcastic tone)." She then took a look in the light and started squealing and hugging Luke very tightly. They went into the car and were she started squealing and crying uncontrollably. They went to Dairy Queen and each got a blizzard and then called everyone that they knew and lived happily ever after! |
