Yet Another TR47 Fanfic Chapter 5: Renegade Mew
Crystal woke up in the middle of the night, then looked around.  She had fallen asleep at the foot of Jads's bed, though she wasn't exactly sure when.  She glanced out the window, then smiled when she saw the full moon gleaming brightly in the night sky.
Crystal hopped off the bed, then hovered over to the open window, where a gentle breeze was blowing.  She glanced behind her to make sure that Jads was still asleep, then flew out the window.
There was one thing that Crystal loved more than anything, and that was flying outside under a full moon.  She raced through the warm night air, feeling the wind against her face.  As she was flying, Crystal looked around and could see numerous nocturnal Pokemon roaming about on the ground.
Crystal smiled, then stopped in the air and hovered for a few moments.  She glanced up at the moon, then suddenly something dawned on her.  She had promised Joey that she would return eventually.  Crystal stared at the moon for a few moments, then decided that it would be a good time to live up to that promise.
Crystal looked around for a few moments, then began flying in the direction of the headquarters.  A few minutes later, Crystal found herself floating above the massive building.  She hesitated for a second, then decided that she should go.  She teleported to the lab in her invisible form, then headed straight for the tank where Joey was being held.
Crystal looked around, noting the single scientist seated in front of a computer, then turned to face Joey.  She closed her eyes, then began concentrating her psychic powers toward Joey.
Crystal immediately found herself standing in a grassy plain, the warm sun beaming down on her.  She had made the link a lot faster than anticipated.  Crystal looked around, then saw Joey lying in the grass a few moments later.  She ran over to where Joey was lying, then looked down at her.
"I had the feeling you'd be coming," Joey said as Crystal stopped.  "I'm not sure why, but somehow I knew you'd be here at this time."
Crystal smiled.  "Well, I guess that's what happens when you're psychic."
"Either way, I'm glad that you came," Joey said.  "It gets so boring here, being the all my myself this much."
"So, what exactly is this place?" Crystal asked curiously.
"This is my home.  What does it look like to you?"
Crystal bit her lip gently.  "She doesn't know," Crystal thought.
"So, how did you find your way to this place?" Joey asked.  "It would be interesting to know, because you're the first to visit me."
"I'm not exactly sure how I found this place," Crystal lied.  "I just sort of stumbled across it while I was flying."
"That's cool," Joey replied.
Crystal sighed and looked around, then smiled.  At least it was nice there.  She looked at Joey and said, "So, how did you get here?"
"I've been here as long as I can remember," Joey replied.
Crystal nodded, then suddenly glanced up as the sun began to fade away.  She looked at Joey in confusion, and Joey returned the same confused look.
"What's happening?" Crystal asked Joey.
"I don't know.  That has never happened before," Joey replied worriedly.
After a few moments, Crystal realized what was happening.  Joey's dream world was falling apart.  She was about to gain consciousness for the first time . . .

Blade snapped awake as the phone in his office rang.  He reached over, the groggily answered it.
"Get down here ASAP!" a scientist yelled, "Something major is happening!"
Blade jumped up in alarm, worried that something bad was happening.  He ripped his lab coat off the hanger as he rushed out of his office, then quickly pulled it on as he was running down the hall as he had done many times before.
When Blade reached the door to the laboratory, it was pulled open by a waiting scientist.  Blade rushed through the door, then looked around.
"What's going on?  What's happened?"
A scientist sitting at the computer gestured for Blade to take a look at the monitor.  Blade rushed over to the computer, then looked at the glowing screen.  Joey's vital signs were strengthening.  Her heart rate was rising, as were other various vital signs.
Blade laughed triumphantly, knowing what all this meant.  Joey was waking up.  She was about to get her first look at her new masters . . .

Crystal looked around in fear as everything in Joey's world began disappearing completely.  The bright sun was now replaced by darkness, and the only things left to see were the two Mews, as if they were their own light source.  They seemed to be floating in a featureless black nothing now.
As Crystal was looking around, she suddenly noticed that she and Joey were beginning to fade away as well.  The mental link was becoming unstable.  Crystal looked at Joey one last time, then simply whispered, "I'm sorry for not telling you."
In that instant, the mental link was severed, and Crystal found herself back in the lab.  However, she also found herself staring into a pair of innocent blue eyes.  Crystal realized right then that she was staring at Joey again, who was now awake and fully alert.
Joey looked around in shock, knowing that her world had been nothing more than a dream.  She reached her paws up slowly, then touched the glass which surrounded her on all sides.  She was completely trapped, with nowhere to go.  Joey looked straight ahead at Crystal, being able to see her since they were both Mews.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Joey whispered to her.
"I'm sorry," Crystal replied.
She repeated it again, then was suddenly thrown to the floor as a scientist rushed to where she was hovering, shocked to see that Joey was awake.  Crystal sat up slowly and looked at Joey sadly, then turned away and teleported back to the cabin.  Joey's words seemed to echo through her mind as she floated into Jads's room.  She laid down on the bed, then closed her eyes and fell asleep a few minutes later . . .

Blade walked calmly to the tank where Joey was being held.  He looked at Joey for a few seconds, then walked back over to the computer.  He typed commands into the computer rapidly, then turned to where Joey was being held.  The tank began to drain rapidly, and as a result Joey slowly sank until she was resting on the bottom.
When the tank was fully drained, Blade raised the glass panel, causing the security alarm to sound.  Blade shut off the alarm, since they would no longer be needing it.  He then stepped over to Joey and cleared his throat.
"Greetings, Joey," Blade said confidently.
Joey looked up at Blade and said nothing.  None of the scientists knew it, but Joey had already used her psychic powers to discover the truth.  She had read their minds, and knew what their plans were.
"How do you feel?" Blade asked.
Despite knowing the truth, Joey couldn't help but listen to her body.  She shivered, then whispered, "I feel cold."
Blade stepped back in alarm, because he hadn't been expecting Joey to speak English.  He knew that a Mew was one of the most intelligent Pokemon ever, but didn't know that it would be capable of human speech.
Blade stepped forward again, then removed his lab coat and placed it around Joey nervously.  He still wasn't sure how she would react, but he was fairly confident that all would go well.  Blade glanced at the others, then nodded.  One of the scientists approached with a needle and a bottle of tranquilizer.  They would sedate Joey before they moved her, just in case she did become hostile.
The scientist filled the needle, then stepped over to Joey.  When he reached down to grab Joey's arm, however, she pulled back and hissed loudly.  The scientist stepped away, then looked at Blade in concern.
"I know what you're thinking," Joey whispered, becoming louder as she continued to speak.  "You want to knock me out so that you can imprison me somewhere else and make me your personal servant.  You want this organization known as Team Rocket to be the most powerful group on the entire planet.  Well, you're going to have to recruit someone else to do your dirty work."
Blade stepped back in awe.  Joey knew about their entire plan.  Her psychic powers were far more advanced than they had expected.  He could tell already that it was going to be tough.
"That's nonsense," Blade replied soothingly.  "Why would we ever want to do something like that?"
"Because that's the way you think," Joey replied.
Joey stood up, then floated off the platform where she had been imprisoned.  She hovered over to Blade, who was too petrified to do anything.  Joey stopped when she was inches away from his face, then glared at him.
"What's the matter, Blade?  Cat got your tongue?"
Blade stuttered, then panicked.  He turned around and began running for the door, but was cut off by Joey, who was able to move much faster than he was.
"What, are you too afraid to face your own creation?  Is that it?  The fact that you're too much of a coward to see what you've done?"
Blade remained where he was standing, his only route of escape blocked.  Joey growled, then out of the corner of her eye she saw one of the scientists hold something up.
"I don't think so," Joey hissed, using her psychic powers to pull the tranquilizer gun out of the scientist's hand.  The gun flew into Joey's hand, then she looked at the others.  "Anybody else want to try a similar stunt?"
The scientists in the room didn't move a muscle.  Joey had been released for mere minutes, and she was already rebelling against them.  Giovanni was going to have a fit when he found out about this.
Joey looked down at the gun, then up at Blade.  "So, exactly how does this thing work?" she asked, pointing it at Blade.
Blade didn't move a muscle.  He looked into Joey's eyes, then whispered, "You wouldn't oppose your own creator, would you?"
Joey pulled the trigger, then dropped the gun.  "Yes."
Blade fell to the floor moments later, the tranquilizer dart taking full effect.  The scientist stared at Joey, their mouths hanging open.  Joey hissed in anger, then looked around for the fastest way of escape.  Not seeing one, she decided to make her own.
Using powers that were unknown to the scientists, Joey stretched her paws out in front of her.  A ball of energy formed in front of her, crackling loudly.  Joey aimed at the nearest wall, then threw the ball of energy forward.
The force of the attack caused a large explosion, leaving a gaping hole in the wall and exposing the lab to the outside.  Joey flew into the hole, hovered there for a moment, then turned around.
"I will never be your little pet, Team Rocket will never be my master, and you'll never succeed in reaching the top if I can help it."
With that, Joey turned back to the hole and flew through it, soaring high into the night sky.  She was never going to be a part of Team Rocket. She made it her personal goal to oppose anything Team Rocket did until the day she died . . .

Crystal woke up the next morning, her sleep disturbed as Jads climbed out of bed.  Crystal watched her drowsily, starting to drift off to sleep already.  Jads pulled a change of clothes out of her dresser, then stumbled off to the bathroom to take a shower.
Crystal stretched out on the blanket, yawning heavily.  She curled up into a ball on top of the blanket, then drifted back to sleep within moments.
Jads returned to the bedroom a little bit later, a towel wrapped around her hair.  She sat down on the edge of the bed and pulled it off, then began to brush her hair carefully.  She glanced over at Crystal, then smiled as she watched her sleep peacefully.
Crystal was sleeping on her back now, so Jads couldn't help but reach over and poke her in the side with her brush.  Jads giggled quietly as Crystal pawed the air, still asleep.  Jads glanced at her watch, then sighed.  She and Ira were getting up later than usual.
Jads opened her bedroom door, then walked into the kitchen.  Ira was already in there cooking breakfast.  Jads sat down at the table and waited patiently, wondering how much longer it would take him.
"Morning, Jads," Ira mumbled without turning around.  He was obviously tired as well.
"Good morning, Ira," Jads replied.  "Did you sleep well?"
"Yes, although it started to get a bit cold during the night."
Jads smirked, then said, "Well, maybe we don't need the windows open at night after all."
Crystal wandered into the kitchen a few minutes later, hopping up onto Jads's lap.  Jads smiled and patted her on the head, then glanced over at Ira. "Is breakfast almost ready?"
"Yeah, not much longer," Ira replied.
Crystal yawned and stretched out on Jads's lap, then curled up like a cat and fell asleep.  Jads smiled and began petting her back gently, causing Crystal to make quiet purring noises as she slept.
"So Ira, are we ever going to start recruiting some actual members anytime soon, or is it just gonna be the three of us until the day we die?"
Ira sighed, then turned to face Jads.  "We'll get some more members eventually, don't worry.  Just wait, it's gonna take some time."
Jads sighed, then thought, "I've been waiting ever since we moved into this cabin . . ."

Blade took a deep breath, then stepped into Giovanni's office.  We wasn't sure what to expect, and was beginning to rethink if he really wanted to tell Giovanni what had happened.  He closed the door behind him, then stood up straight in front of Giovanni's desk.
"Here we go," Blade thought as Giovanni set down a pile of papers.
"What news do you have about the Mew?  Good, I hope."
Blade took a deep breath, then replied, "Unfortunately, no."
Giovanni's face fell a bit, then he cleared his throat.  "And why is that?"
"From the moment that the tank was lifted, everything that could go wrong did.  The Mew became hostile, shot me with a tranquilizer, then blew a hole in the wall of the laboratory."
Much to Blade's surprised, Giovanni wasn't angry.  He looked somewhat amused by this.  Giovanni stood up, walked around the desk, then stopped so that he and Blade were inches apart.
"Find the Mew and bring it back.  If somebody finds out why we cloned a Mew, the police will be all over this place."
"Understood," Blade replied.  He bowed a bit, then exited Giovanni's office.
Giovanni sat down at his desk again, then sighed.  Their most powerful weapon ever had blown a hole in the laboratory wall and escaped.  This was definitely not good.
Blade headed straight to the laboratory, forming a plan in his mind as he went.  Giovanni never actually went into the laboratory, so what if they just started a whole new cloning experiment?  Blade smiled, then laughed quietly.  It would be perfect, because Giovanni wouldn't have a clue that the Mew was different from the original clone . . .

Joey woke up and looked around, feeling the sun warming her body.  She smiled and relaxed, thinking that everything had been a dream.  She stretched out, then suddenly a Butterfree flew overhead.  Joey flew into the air and looked around, then sighed sadly.
Joey flew through the air slowly, observing her surroundings.  She flew up even higher so that she could see the entire island, noting that quite a bit of the island was covered in dense forests.
Joey flew down lower, then began flying through the air quickly.  She wanted to find Crystal again since she had been the only friend she knew.  Unfortunately, Joey didn't know where to start.  After a few moments of thinking, Joey realized how she could find Crystal.
Joey stopped in midair and closed her eyes, then concentrated her psychic powers a bit.  She began focusing, searching for other sources of psychic energy.  There were numerous sources on the island, but only one of which caught Joey's attention: the strongest.
Joey began flying in the direction her powers were telling her to go, hoping that she would find Crystal.  She found herself flying over a large green forest, then looked around carefully as she was flying.
Joey spotted a large cabin through the trees, which seemed to be where the source of psychic energy was located.  She flew down and landed on the ground in front of the cabin, then glanced around.  After pondering for a few moments, Joey decided to go ahead and find out who or what was inside.  She flew to an open window, then slipped inside . . .

Crystal's ears perked up slightly, then she lifted her head, disturbed from her sleep for some reason.  She sensed a familiar presence nearby, and it had strong psychic powers.  Crystal hopped off Jads's lap, then flew slowly out of the kitchen.  Jads looked in curiosity, then stood up.
"Just a minute, Ira, I'm gonna see what Crystal's up to."
Ira nodded, then resumed cooking breakfast.  Jads walked out of the kitchen slowly, keeping her distance from Crystal so that she wouldn't disturb her.
Crystal began following her senses and sniffing the air, knowing for sure that something new was in the cabin.  And yet, she seemed to recognize the scent.  Unfortunately, she couldn't quite place where she had smelled it before.
Jads continued to follow Crystal through the cabin stealthily, wondering exactly what Crystal was doing.  Crystal hadn't been with her and Ira for very long, but she knew that Crystal tended to stick close to them and not wander off on her own very much.
Crystal stopped in front of the door to Jads's bedroom, then looked up at it curiously.  The door was shut, which meant Crystal would have to fly up and open it herself.  She did just that, grabbing the doorhandle with both paws and twisting it easily.  She then pushed open the door and peered inside.

The moment that Joey heard the door click, she panicked.  She wasn't sure what to do.  She decided to do the first thing that came to mind, so she hid underneath Jads's bed.  She watched from underneath the bed as the door creaked open, then she closed her eyes, afraid of who or what might be standing there.
After a few moments, a calm feeling came over Joey.  Something told her that she was in the right place.  She opened her eyes slowly, then gasped quietly when she saw Crystal standing in the open doorway, inspecting the bedroom carefully.  However, Joey still wasn't sure how Crystal would react.
Crystal noticed something protruding from underneath Jads's bed, and it had a familiar shape to it.  Crystal's tail twitched as she tried to place the shape, then it dawned on her.  The thing was the exact same shape as the end of her own tail.   Crystal debated over what she should do next.  Should she find out what was really under Jads's bed, or should she leave it be?
As usual, curiosity got the best of Crystal.  She crept closer to the bed, then floated up so that she was hovering directly over the bed.  She knew exactly what she was going to do.
Joey glanced around in confusion, because Crystal had disappeared completely.  First she was approaching the bed, then she mysteriously vanished.  Moment later, however, Crystal's stealth was broken.  Joey felt something grab hold of her tail, then she was dragged out from underneath the bed.
Joey dug her claws into the floor desperately and shrieked in alarm, but it was too late.  She found herself hanging upside-down in the air by her tail, her face directly in front of Crystal's.
"What's up?" Crystal asked, giggling quietly.
"Let me go!" Joey hissed, swatting at Crystal, but just out of range.  Joey had discovered quickly that she hated having her tail grabbed.
"If you insist," Crystal shrugged.  She let go of Joey's tail, causing Joey to land headfirst on the floor with a loud thump.
Joey sat up and rubbed her head, then winced.  "That was mean."
"Well, you told me to let you go, so I did."
Joey rolled her eyes, then hovered up off the floor and landed on the bed next to Crystal.  Before she could say anything, however, Ira and Jads ran into the bedroom.  They both stopped when they saw Joey and Crystal sitting next to each other, then looked back and forth between the two.
"Um, what's going on here?" Ira asked.
"Hi, I'm Joey."
Jads and Ira gasped simultaneously.  "It speaks English!" Jads blurted, somewhat shocked.
"What's your point?" Joey asked.  "So do you."
"But, but, how come you speak English and Crystal doesn't?"
"I'm just gifted, I guess," Joey replied smartly.
Jads snickered, then said, "Well, he's got a point."
Joey hissed, baring her claws and fangs, and looking rather offended.  "I'm a she!"
Jads stepped back, somewhat surprised by the reaction.  "Sorry.  It's just that Joey isn't exactly a feminine name."
"Tell that to the scientist who named me," Joey replied.
Jads tilted her head to one side.  "Scientist?"
"Yes, scientist," Joey replied.  "I was created in a lab by scientists from Team Rocket who intended to use me as their little warrior pet."
Ira sighed and shook his head, looking a bit angry.  "The things that Team Rocket will try just so that they can earn more power."
"You know about Team Rocket?" Joey asked, somewhere interested.
"Know?  We used to be members, but we left."
"Really?  Do tell," Joey responded.
Jads and Ira nodded to each other, then proceeded to tell Joey about their entire Team Rocket experience in detail.  Joey listened intently, becoming quite a bit more interested when Jads and Ira explained the mission of Team Rocket47.
"So, you two formed Team Rocket47 after quitting so that you could forever oppose Team Rocket?" Joey asked.
"Exactly," Ira replied.  "However, we're not really in a position to oppose Team Rocket right now.  We're too small, and wouldn't stand a chance in they found our base and attacked us."
Joey hovered up off the bed so that she was at eye level with Ira, then cleared her throat.  "If you're in need of new members to help oppose Team Rocket, then you just found your newest recruit . . ."
