This game is hugely under rated and vastly ignored. For fans of the anime, this game has little to do with the series. The game itself is nothing new,but is a good game none the less.
The game borrows alot from Diablo, and like diablo is more a dungeon crawler than an rpg. You start the game with very little, not even certain of your own identity. But through your questing, you begin to learn more about yourself.
Most of the game takes place in under ground settings where you slash your way through and uncover objects here and there. One nice touch is the ability to recover Hp without the reliance of potions ad spells. Also handy is the healing fountains where you can refill and empty bottle with more healing fluid.
The armor and weapons management system is very much like Diablo and simple to use. It also makes it easier when it comes to upgrading your weapons or adding new abilities to them. ROLW suffers from it's lack of originality and failure to break new ground. It's simplistic gameplay makes it easy for new comers to get into, while turning off the serious gamer. One definite disappointment is in graphics, which fail to utilize the full potential of the DC. The game is fun and can get addicting after a while. It serves as a nice distraction until Diablo 2 comes home to the console. Forget the anime and check this game out as its own story. You'll enjoy it.
