The long awaited sequel to the Dreamcast's Jet Grind Radio Future has made it's way onto a new console, but does it measure up? Jet Set Radio Future, an exclusive XBOX title is more of a remake than a sequel and boasts an array of new features that make this game stand out.
The graphics are improved and in the familiar cell shaded style with new and brighter colors to rival the Superman cartoon's Metropolis. You are now able to initiate new moves such as grinding up poles and performing tricks backwards. The graffiti technique has been done away with and replaced by a simple click of a button to tag all walls.
The story is slightyly changed with Gum taking the lead this time around and your favorite Dj spinning his turntable while updating the situation throughout the game. The opposition is much tougher to deal with. You no longer have the police on your tail, instead it's an organization out to keep you and your gang off the streets.
One nice addition is the connection and expansion of all levels. Unlike the first game, each area has been increased to give you more room for exploration and you can now go from one section of the city, straight into another.
The create your own graffiti feature is still intact and has an added pallette of designs,as well as customizations to suit your style. You can find the graffiti icons littered all over the game, but getting to them is no easy feat. It takes alot of work and persistance to collect them all.
All in all, the game is awesome and an improvement over the first. It utilizes and benefits from the XBOX's cababilitys, making this game a title to get. I look forward to see what Beat and the gang will be up to next time around.
