June Stories
Third and FinalTrimester
Week 27: June 6st the start of the third and final trimester its all downhill from here.
Karl has been just wonderful always giving me feet massages and talking to the baby. We also are playing music to the belly (jazz, classical, latin) and the baby has responded whenever theres some music. Hopefully we have a little music genius on our hands. We are trying to spend tons of down time together went to the Woods Resort o celebrate our anniversary last one before baby Luka arrives. So exciting but so weird to think in three months we will have a new addition to our Luka love.
I had ended teaching any fitness classes - no more kickboxing or yoga for a while. I just want to take some yoga and do swimming and running before the baby gets here.  I'll be back at it in January (just kickboxing). I'm happy to get a chance right before the baby to slow down (right... we believe that when we see it). I enjoyed teaching yoga at the Village Gym in Middletown because it was a different age group but tough on driving so I won't go back to there. We have to be prepared that the baby will take over our lives (and it should). Tough for busy lulu but we'll see what happens. I can see it now. Baby and Me exercise classes, running with the baby, etc. Heck the baby knows I cant slow down.
O the joy of being pregnant! First you have a little alien growing in your belly. Next theres the feeling like youre someone completely different from your usual self. Then theres all the poking and probing around your body by all types of people, friends or foe. On Friday, June 4th I had the glucose screening test. First you have to pee to test the sugar level in your urine. Then you drink a very sugary drink and wait one hour and then your blood is drawn. Okay.. not really a big deal. But first I couldnt pee to save my live. I drank 3 bottles of water and waited around for one hour until I could go. Finally after that, the pee got tested and had some sugar in it. They didnt know if I should do the test so they called my doctor who gave the go-ahead. Then I drank the drink. It actually wasnt as bad as many pregnant woman say it is. I had a choice of fruit punch or orange flavor (went with fruit punch). Imagine a highly concentrated Hi-C powdered mix that isnt diluted. Okay how about 20 oz. of that.. hmmmm. You can feel the sugar coating your teeth. I got it down and then was shown to a private room to relax for one hour (which was very nice). Then got my blood drawn. The results will come back next week and if my sugar level is high, I will have to do the glucose tolerance test which lasts three hours. FUN!!! After a morning like that, I didnt return to work and spent the rest of the day doing errands.
As for the baby, lots of kicking. The only way I can explain it is imagine that you caught a moth in a plastic bag. The bag is full of air with this moth in it. You pres in on the bag and you see the moth and feel the moth hitting your finger, sometimes harder sometimes soft but you feel the flutter of the moth. So thats how the belly feelspush in and all of a sudden you get these flutters of kicks or something pushing that hand out  - get out of my space baby says!
This past weekend we started prepping the house to get the second bedroom painted and set up as a nursery. We (thats Karl and our friend Paul) moved our computer desk and all the equipment into our living room. Were making this space work for us. Baby going to have a nice room, sharing with Karls clothes.
Week 28: The joy of 7th Heaven
This past week has been uneventful other than getting bigger and feeling a lot more kicks. My glucose screening test came back negative whoo! So glad about that. We are working on getting the nursery ready its a whole process move furniture, get fabric for curtains, decide on the paint, etc. Once its done, Ill send out pictures. We have re-nicknamed the belly as Lukaroo (as in a kangaroo due to all the kicks) and we have a new friend sleeping with us a large body pillow tenderly named Pilli (you know me and naming everything in sight). We also discovered a local baby consignment shop called Once upon a Child. Went in for a look around and Karl went crazy over the books. I had to keep reminding him that the baby cant read for a long time, so he got alot of Dr. Seuss books for him to read to the baby.
I also started pre-natal exercise classes twice a week. You would think that it would be a bit easier but nope its a bit intense. Lots of leg and arms. Feels good and its nice to meet other pregnant woman though Im the most furthest along. The instructor has never been pregnant so its interesting to hear her say lose those calories right wrong thing to tell a pregnant woman. I also do pre-natal pilates and yoga dvds at home. Yes I know I cant slow down. Well ladies and gentlemen its starting to happen I cant roll out of bed in the morning very fast, and a slower walking pace (though Karl still cant keep up with me). Im really enjoying this month probably my favorite month so far Im used to being pregnant, its getting closer to the end, feeling Lukaroo is amazing, and I feel like a hot mama (and thats because of the weather). Hope this feeling keeps on going for a while.
Week 30 and the Countdown begins 10 weeks to go
Tons of things happened this past week. First off, we got a glider and ottoman for the nursery and living room. I had been paying attention to Craigslist.com and local classifieds looking for ones and we found great deals and beautiful ottomans for our place. We ended up with two one for downstairs and one upstairs. Great steals! Karl loves doing this one for watching TV and one for the nursery. Secondly, we had another ultrasound and lukaroo is weighing in at 2 pounds and 12 ounces and everything is going well. Yes!!! Then on Thursday night to Saturday my sister came to visit to work on the Lukaroo nursery room. It came out great!!! There was a lot of reorganizing in the room since its where Karl keeps his clothes and will be sharing with the baby. We spent Thursday night doing that then Friday we prepped the room and started painting. By noon we ran out of paint and headed out for lunch and a trip to the paint store. Back to the apartment we discovered that the paint color was way wrong so off again we went back to the paint store to get the right color. Finally with the right color for the wall we finished up the second coat then I started on the wall murals that we designed. The theme is moon, stars, and sun. The first wall with the moon and stars went very well Sandra and Karl worked on stenciling the stars on and I worked on the moon. The sun wall was a bit more challenging than it seemed on paper. Finally we got it to what we wanted and I think it turned out GREAT!!!
Then my best friend had her baby boy, Brandon, and I headed up to CT to visit them on Saturday and just returned. Hes so small and so cute!!! O my gosh!!! It was quick boot camp in baby care but it was great! Cant believe in 10 weeks well have one of those FOREVER!!! Wow!!! Its going to go by so fast!
