1. Prologue: Battling Dracula

At the beginning of the game, you re-enact the climactic battle against Dracula from Dracula X on the PC-Engine. You can't actually die here, but you can come away from the battle with increased stats if you fight him a certain way. If you want to defeat the Count quickly, simply use your holy water Rain spell on him. But if you want to start off your adventure with better stats, it'll take a little more work. Here's the rundown:

If you don't lose any life, and kill Dracula both times by using special weapons and magic, you will start the game with: STR 7, CON 7, INT 9, LCK 9, HP 75, MP 20, HEART 55.

If you defeat both of his forms using no special weapons, being hit only a couple of times: STR 9, CON 6, INT 6, LCK 6, HP 75, MP 20, HEART 50.

The most difficult (yet beneficial) way to defeat the count is to not get hit, and not use any magic or special weapons. For accomplishing this task, you will start with: STR9, CON 8, INT 8, LCK 13, HP 80, MP 20, HEART 50.

2. The Inverted Castle

To reach the game's second castle, take the silver and gold rings which Maria gives you and equip them both in the room with the large clock. Doing this will cause a door to a secret room to open up below you. In this room, Maria will give you the Holy Glasses. When you fight Richter, equip the glasses and you will find that he is being controlled by an evil orb. After destroying the orb, walk to the left, stand on the platform, and press up to warp to the inverted castle.

3. Multiple Endings

So far we've uncovered four different endings to the game. Here's what you have to do in order to get them:

Ending 1: Kill Richter without using the Holy Glasses

Ending 2: Kill Richter using the Holy Glasses

Ending 3: Kill Dracula with less than 200%

Ending 4: Kill Dracula with more than 200%

4. The Telescope

As far as we know, the telescope isn't used for anything at all -except perhaps as a clue to find the ferryman.

5. The Clock Room

Behind the two stone statues in the upper corners of this room lies a secret passage. The upper left passage open on its own ever minute. To open the upper right passage, you must use the watch's time freeze.

There is also a passage on the floor of this room, which is opened as described in tip number two. In the inverted castle, this passage is opened by equiping the five pieces of Vlad.

6. The Confession Booth

In the first castle there is a confession booth near the giant staircase in the middle far left of the map. If you stand in front of the left hand chair and push up you will sit down. A ghostly priest will appear, bless you, and sometimes will leave you food. If you try to sit in the right hand chair, a ghostly woman will close the curtain and try to impale you - so don't do it!

7. Name-Based Codes

By entering on of the following names before stating a new game, you can unlock several cool tricks. In order for this trick to work however, you must have a memory card in slot one with a save of a finished game on it. Here's what you must do:

Entering your name as RICHTER lets you play through the entire game as Richter Belmont.

Entering your name as AXEARMOR you will start off the game wearing special armor.

Finally, entering X-XIV"Q will give you a Luck attribute of 99 which will aid you in locating rare items.

8. Make Makey Fast

Strapped for cash? In the inverted castle there is an area where you can come upon a $2000 money bag. Not only that - the bag will re-appear everytime you walk on and off screen. The bag is located in a long rectangular room near the upper-right corner of the castle map which is home to orange fishmen. The easiest way to grab the cash is to transform into your wolf form so that you can run in and out of the room much faster by using its dash. Repeat this trick to stock up on cash and you'll be on your way to buying the Duplicator in no time flat!

9. Gain Experience Fast

Once you've saved up enough money to buy the Duplicator, equip it with a throwing weapon such as the Buffalo Star. Now, go to the inverted castle. In the rooms to the left and right of the Clock Room there are enemies called Guardians. Killing them will give you massive amounts of experience. The best way to off them is to enter the room, duck, and quickly throw stars at them. Thanks to the duplicator, you'll go up several levels in mere minutes.

10. Are You Finished?

Have you noticed the percentage at the load game screen? This is the amount of the game which you have completed. We believe the most complete game to be 200.10%, but there's always a chance that there's more to find. To achieve at least 200%, you must explore every corner of both castles, uncovering all of their rooms. Finding every relic, enemies, and other special items will also increase this percentage.
