The Ponder Page: Thinking to hard about questions that don't really matter.

Here is where we ponder the oddities of Lufia. Send Skull an e-mail on your

off the wall theories are encouraged as well. Common. This section would be
really neat if you guys would just type a sentence or two and send me an email.

Skullrama thinks: Why do ships in Lufia 3 still rely on waves and the direction of the wind 200 years after Lexis invented a working engine?
Answers:
Skullrama: .....Because the PATRON GODDESS OF TECHNOLEDGY decided mortals
were unworthy of such things as ENGINES and stole them all. She then put them
in her technological hoard where she keeps the alien zappers and Elvis' brain.
Starfe wonders: At the end of Lufia 2.... Why don't Selen and Maxim use an
escape ITEM to get off the island?
Answers:
Skullrama: Why, everyone knows that in dramatic scenes such as the death of
a character in a non-battle situation all magic items are temporarily disabled
until it is too late to use them to help. That's just how it works. If we
could just run around willy nilly using escape items whenever we were caught
in a trap, well, that just wouldn't be very fair to the villains, now would
it?
Starfe sits there and scrathes his head until he tears the flesh and blood rushes out into his hair as he screams and hits things because of the pain of ripping his own scalp open: If Arek is so great and powerful that even 4 mega powered beings wouldnt dare to oppose him... Then why didn't he just drop a doom beam on Elcid when he had the chance?
Answer:
Dr. Skullrama: Arek is omnipotent. He doesn't care if the Sinistrals win or not. If he wanted the world he'd take it with a wave of his hand.
Starfe theorizes:
Arek is the original creator of the universe, plain and simple. He is both the god of good and evil unlike in Christianity where you have the Devil and God. This makes him neutral. When he created life and eventually got the humans he noticed something, their lives were too perfect. Giving them all these luxuries had tipped the scale over to the side of good. He had made the universe good, not neutral and so to return it to its neutrality he created 4 sinister forces (Chaos, Destruction, Death, Terror) for the humans.
Now the humans had 4 evils in their minds. They could cause chaos, destroy things, cause death, and strike terror into people. This balanced out the universe and returned it to neutrality. Over many many many years the people using these forces against each other wars broke out and crime took shape. The use of these forces built up in the void until finally the 4 evils manifested themselves in a human form. The Sinistrals, which are bassicly the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse.
The Sinistrals, with their immense power which never stopped growing because of the humans actions feeding their power brought themselves from the void and into the world. They found an Island that wasnt inhabitted by many people and they used their powers to rip a chunk out of the center of it and rise it into the sky. This would be their home. Doom Island. The chunk of land was ripped out of the Island in the center of the oceans of the world, torn from a large triangular island to make 3 triangular islands.
They created a fortress on their floating Island and let the Island hover in the upper atmosphere where the stars are clearly visible. They stayed their and grew their power for many centuries. Then, when the time came. They attacked the world below them by using their power to make the animals wild and rabid and to create horrific monsters that had never been seen before. They used the monsters to cause what they stood for, Destruction, Death, Chaos, and Terror.
Arek, being a Neutral God, could not just remove them from existence because that would be favoring the good side of things. Of course Arek now could not think of either side as good or evil. Because they both had causes that were just in their own minds and he had given them free will. The Sinistrals wanted to cause death, chaos, terror, and destruction. And the humans wanted to prevent it. So since Arek had to restore neutrality he created something to decide for him, a mighty sword, the Dual Blade. Called the Dual blade because it contained the ability to decide for 2 different sides. Dual Blade would ring when it found someone who could wield it.
For the sinistrals the wielder would be Daos, leader of the Sinistrals and Lord of Terror. The humans however did not have anyone capable of making the blade ring. So Arek, being Neutral and having to have an equal on each side, placed a suppressed power in a child who was to be born. When he came of age, he could make the blade ring. When he was born his parents named him "Maxim". I believe this idea of Arek creating Maxim as the one to be the human sides savior as a religious relation to Jesus, or maybe Im just thinking to much into it.
After Maxims quest finally leads him to Daos he learns of the dual blade, and though it rings for him. It does not choose him, it chooses Daos. Later though, when they meet again atop a tower on one of the islands near Doom Islands origin point Dual blade changes its choice to Maxim. The Sinistrals knew what their fate was after that, they would be sent back to the void. Arek could never remove the evils from people, so after 100 years they would be able to return from the void, but when they returned the did not want a descendent of Maxim in the way. So for their last effort they sent Doom Island plummeting towards the city that the young baby of Maxim was in.
2 of Maxims friends escaped, and his wife died. He stayed behind to stop the plummeting, and divert the island. When he was succesful he had used all of his strength, he dropped to the floor and his spirit joined his wife's. Although he may not have died by a natural cause, it may have been Areks doing. With the Sinistrals gone their could not be a supreme good force in the universe either. And so, Maxim had to leave the living plane. And neutrality returned.
However, Maxims child lived on and passed on the power to make Dual Blade ring. And about 100 years after the sinistrals original defeat, a descendent of Maxim rose to defeat them. Sending them back to the void until human actions could allow them to manifest themselves.
So, Arek is struggling to keep the world neutral. He has had to do some pretty severe things to keep it that way. He is the one God of the universe and he created Dual Blade as a descision maker for who should be the ruling force on Earth. Every hundred years the test is taken again by another of the sacred blood.
