Fall in Colorado

We started raising Limousin cattle 28 years ago beginning with 3/4 bloods originating from Oklahoma. Later we added a number of full bloods.   We had always used fullblood bulls.  At this time our program is focusing on blacks and polled and therefore we are using purebred black and polled bulls.   Most of our cattle are sold to breeders who prefer black.   Our cows are bred A.I.
To cull or not to cull?  The factors that influence our culling are disposition, structural correctness and calving ability.   If a cow could not raise a calf or had calving problems she is culled.    If our calves (bulls as well as heifers) are not average or better on performance at weaning they are culled.   All calves are checked for soundness and disposition at weaning as well as at yearling. We keep only about 25% of the bull calves for bulls, the rest are steered and sold to a feed lot.   The same is true of the heifers. After the top 25% are sorted off the remainder are sold to a feeder.    We sell our bulls and heifers at private treaty on the farm.  All animals are registered with NALF and have balanced EPD's.  We believe in the Limousin Breed and feel that Limousin cattle will do an outstanding job both in the feed lot as well as on the rail.
The commercial man who buys our bulls is important to us.   We listen to the rancher to determine what he wants.  We try to fill his needs. Our bulls are fertility tested just before they are delivered.   They are fully guaranteed.
We have customers who are extremely happy with the prices they have received the past few years for their calves.  We feel as they do that it is due to the strong Limousin influence.
We have been using such AI bulls as Guardian, Wulfs Gage,  First Choice and Black Legacy. After breeding our heifers to Guardian our calving went very well.  Both the Gage and Guardian calves came easy with light birth weights.   It will be exciting to see how they perform.

We have weaned outstanding bulls as well as heifers this fall  from the bulls shown above.  They are for sale at this time.   We also have calves from Black Legacy and First Down.   We feel we have a bull to meet every commercial man's needs.   We have small birth weights that can be used on heifers. We have bulls with larger birth weights for older cows.  All our bulls have outstanding weaning weights as well as yearling weights.  If you need to add milk to your cow base we have bulls with high milk epd's.   Most of our bulls are black and polled, however we do have some red, polled bulls as well.
