Ruth P. Udtohan's brother Leo, who is having his practice teaching at the Mayor Anunciacion R. Tuazon National School of Fisheries, formerly the Calape National School of Fisheries talked on environmental protection. He presented the 8 environmental principles to the students for them to be aware of. "They (students) could not understand unless they know the 8 environmental principles. They could not love Mother Nature unless they have to touch the soil, feel its essence, then they will love her.
"I believe that within us is the power to create and destroy. We are connected to anything else," Leo said. He introduced learning style to the students where he drawed a spider web on the board. "See what will happen if I break one stand?" he asked. The students answered that the whole web should collapsed. "Very well, that will happen if we should not care Mother Nature. We are all part of the magic web of life. If one is not cared, it would affect us. If one tree is died, there will be no more birds, no more pollens, no more tree."
He also challenged the students
to participate in any environmental activities like tree planting and coastal
cleaning. "Imagine a planet withour trees, do you think we can stay here
or as of now we should look on to possibilities to stay in other planets.
The earth is dying, so are we," he also said. "I can remember my sister
Ruth who died last year who said that "trees are like us, it grow and die,
like people."
