AIR FARES
Round trip airline ticket to Kiev
from New York City:
Budget Airline during summer season (Air Ukraine, Lot
Poland, etc.)--$700-900
Premium Airline during summer season (Luftansa, Delta,
etc.)--$1000-1400
To the way only Air Ukraine flies nonstop to Kiev from
the United States (from New York and Chicago only).
All other airlines will stop in the major city of their
homeland (example: Swiss Air stops in Zurich). Also, unless
you live in New York or a very major US city, you may
have to stay overnight in the European city where the airline resides,
usually on the way back, because you may arrive too late to catch their
daily flight to your home city. For a small fee some airlines allow you
to delay your return to America and remain in their home city, essentially
giving you a two city vacation for the price of one airline ticket.
To avoid a stop over, if this is of no interest to you, you may
have to return to America by way of New York.
Airlines may only have one flight a day to your home city, but usually
have multiple flights to New York.
Also, keep in mind that many of the smaller airlines fly only from
major US cities, most often New York. So,
considering a stop in New York and a stop in a European city, be
prepared to spend up to 24 hours to get to
Ukraine. Quite a long time considering that a direct flight from
the East Coast is around 13 hours or so. Those of
you who live in Europe don't have to worry about this.
Typically, the highest rates are from April 15th through September
15th. Rates in the Fall/Winter season can be
$200-300 less than Spring/Summer season rates.
