Beat @ Boston Breakers (06/06/01)

Unfortunately, as this was a road match not on television, I was not able to see this match. Good news though as the Beat seemed to shake off the lethargicness of the last match (let's NOT talk about that) by opening the scoring in the 30th minute. Canadian international Charmaine Hooper took a pass from Cindy Parlow at the 18, went by Breakers defender Heather Aldama and put the ball past keeper Karina LeBlanc.

The Beat were not able to hold onto the lead as the Breakers scored in the 64th minute. However, as all soccer fans know, if you can get a point on the road, that is good. Though one thing must be said, thus far in the WUSA, the road teams have won more matches than home teams have.

Despite following up the successful road trip with one point in two matches, the Beat is still in the thick of the four-way battle at the top of the league. All indications are that the Beat are on their way back to form, and with Mia Hamm's Washington Freedom coming to town, the Beat will need to be in top form.
