Well, it's great to have a drum tech, especially one who knows just how I like my Rogers Powertone to sound. Too bad ol' Robby can't make coffee as smooth as Tim Horton's, but ah well, he's only as good as the programming he gets, right? OK, further robot talk is now expressly ....forbidden. I picked up this Cleveland-era Rogers set Hallowe'en, 2001. I mean, that's when I paid for them. They arrived Nov. 30. They had issues galore to be dealt with, but I was able to negotiate a partial refund of $300 from the Seller, and put the money back into the set. I removed, washed and polished all the hardware and I sanded and repainted the hoops. The work was done in February, 2002. As you will see on the next page, I later added an L-arm to mount a ride on the bass drum. The set was originally sold by George Hamilton's The Drum Shop, Detroit, MI. I bought it from a fellow in Grand Rapids, MI. This kit wasn't ready to go "out of the box" but now that I have it right, it won't be seeing any boxes for several years. Click on "Flash" to see some other sets and snares. Oh, thanks for stopping by! Hope you like my small corner of the drum world. -Ron |

| This is how the Powertone looked "out of the box." Not good. Still, the extent of the issues and the amount of work didn't end with the snare drum. It's very rewarding to breathe new life into an old drum set. It was a great feeling to take the "AFTER" pics. I had help along the way with restoring the Rogers, and that made it easier. Special thanks to Dan. C. and other DCI Forumites for their helpful info and support. |
