Have you ever ....

 Live & Kicking 1996

Kevin:

... forgotten your mum's birthday?

Nope , never . I always try to send her something and if I can't do that then I definitely speak to her on the day. This year, for a late birthday present and for Mother's Day , I flew her to Germany to see us on tour. I think she was a bit shocked at how crazy it all was but I think she was also proud.

... missed a plane?

Yeah , a while ago when I was in New York for a visit. I was on the phone in the airport and I checked my watch which said I still had ten minutes to go , but unfortunately my watch had stopped and the plane had actually taken off ten minutes before. It was alright though , as I didn't have too long to wait for the next one .

... asked for someone's autograph?

When I was younger I got a couple of basketball players' autographs, but I think the only recent one I've asked for was from Bryan Adams. We met him when we were at Top Of The Pops. I'm a big fan and we've just come out of the studio where we've been working with his producer, which was cool.

... been stopped by the police?

Yup, a few times for speeding. Fortunately I'm pretty good at getting out of tickets. I'm just real polite and they usually let me off.

... worn the same pants two days running?

Oh yeah, definitely. When you're on the road it's sometimes difficult to keep up with the laundry so you find yourself without a clean pair. You've got no choice but to pop yesterday's pair back on. They don't tend to be real snug ones though, which is lucky.

... cleaned a toilet?

Yes many, many times . When I was younger I worked for my father at his summer camp and that was just one of my jobs, along with cleaning the cabins, cutting the grass and so on.

... written a song for someone?

Yes I have. I wrote one a while ago for an ex-girlfriend but we haven't recorded it yet. You never know, maybe one day it'll end up on an album.

Nick:

... had sunstroke?

No, never . We live next to the beach so I've been round the sun all my life and I never worry about it. I don't even wear sunscreen and I still don't burn.

... been asked out by a girl?

Yeah, I was a bunch of times when I was at school. I like girls asking you out as it takes the pressure off your having to do it, but it hasn't happened for a while I'm sad to say.

... dyed your hair?

I have it highlighted, but I don't think I'd ever dye it another color. I don't really have to do that much to it as the sun really bleaches it in the summer.

... been bullied?

Yeah a long time ago when I was at school. There was a kid names Steven Lacornia who was big and picked on everybody. He was always in trouble.

... been scared on a plane?

I'm always scared on planes, I hate flying. I think I get better the more often I fly though. None of the others get scared but they don't try to help; they just ignore me.

... been sick in public?

It wasn't too recent, but I was sick on stage once. I guess I must have eaten something bad, I was so sick I had to pull out of the show.

... read someone's diary?

No, I haven't managed yet. I've been trying for ages to read my sister's diary, but she always comes and catches me. I don't think I'd want to read anyone else's diary though.

A.J:

... borrowed something and forgotten to take it back?

Oh all the time. I borrow clothes and tolietries and everything from the guys, then keep them so long that by the time they get round to asking for them back I've worn or used them so much they don't want them back anymore. It's a great trick.

... had an accident on stage?

It's funny you should ask me that because I did quite recently in Germany. Someone threw a rock and it hit me in the face during our performance. I thought it was a cuddly toy or something. It caught me just above my eye. It was quite a nasty cut. I had to carry on with the show though as it was part of a big Pop festival. If it had been our show I'd have made security find out who'd thrown it!

... baked a cake?

In first grade the whole class had to bake one in home economics. I wasn't much help though. I kinda let everyone else get on with it and I wouldn't have dared to decorate it.

... been really, really scared?

Yeah, just about ten minutes ago. We had to get shots for when we go aboard. They inject viruses into your body so you become immune to those diseases; it was horrible. I hate having injections.

... won a competition?

I won $1,000 once. Actually it was in a talent competition against Howie - it was the very first time I met him. We had to put on a 45-minute show and I did mine totally on my own. I sang, danced, acted, everything. Of course, as soon as I'd won I went out and blew all the money - you would though wouldn't you?

... shaved your legs?

Yeah, a few times. I think they look much better shaved; it shows off more definition. And it gets kinda hot in the summer. I've got a body full of hair so I like to get rid of some of it when I can. I think I'll do it again before we head back to Europe.

... been struck in a lift?

I got struck in a parking garage elevator with Howie and my mum not so long ago for about an hour. It started to get hot and I was really freaking out, although I don't think I'm particularly claustrophobic.

Brian:

... forgotten the words to one of your songs?

I remember once we were performing a song from the new album on stage and I had to sing the first two verses. The dance routine was really difficult and I was concentrating so hard on it that I blanked on the words. I ended up just humming along. The others were useless. They were creased up laughing and didn't try to help me out at all!

... sent someone flowers?

There was a girl I really liked at school . I knew the combination to her locker so I smuggled a dozen red roses into it to surprise her. It sure did the trick!

... done country and western dancing?

Yeah, we used to have to do it at school as part of our sports curriculum. And I hate to admit it but I kinda enjoyed it. It was something a bit different, and we didn't have to wear those horrible outfits.

... had long hair?

I had pretty long hair a couple of years back. It was all one length, a bit like Nicky 's. I could even put it in a ponytail. At the time I thought it was pretty cool, but looking back now I much prefer it short and it's a lot easier to handle.

... waited by the phone for a girl to call?

Probably quite a few times when I was at high school. You know, a girl might have said, "I'll call you tonight," then like a fool I'd sit staring at the phone willing it to ring.

... let someone else's secret slip?

I've never let anything majority important slip. If someone tells me something in confidence and tells me not to tell anyone then it's cool. But say Nicky 's told me something in passing which I didn't realize he didn't want anyone else to know I might have mentioned it, but I certainly wouldn't have do it deliberately.

... done something you really regretted?

I can't think of anything I wish I hadn't done and could go back and change. But I do, if possible, try to think about things before I say them.
