Most people either whine or rejoice at how these days everything is going so much faster and hence not as much time is being wasted. Bullshit. Most people just believe things are going faster because products are given faster names. Take telephones for instance, Almost all phones have a speed dial feature, now this would be a handy time saving device, except that everyone only enters numbers that they already know into the speed dial. And yes percentage-wise you are probably cutting your dialling time in half (assuming you can remember which speed dial number they are.) but when you think about it, you went through trying to figure out how to enter in numbers to speed dial just to save 1-3 seconds. But if that is not fast enough for you I have found a phone with "Rocket Dial" after trying this feature out a few times, I have not noticed any significant differences in dialling speed, I have however found that there is a strong correlation between the number of times in a day I use "Rocket Dial" and the number of terrorist camps, Iraqi insurgence strongholds and Orphanages that are blown to pieces by some sort of rocket on that same day. So now each time I use "Rocket Dial" I can smile proudly and think of how I am making the world safe from terrorists, people who don't look like me, and orphans.
