Long Version
On Monday the 23rd I had a doctors appointment and my Doctor told us that if I have cramping I should go to the hospital because she was worried about my blood pressure. On Monday night I was having some cramping so Carson and I went just to be sure. My Blood pressure was normal and I was told that I was 3 centimeters dilated, which was pretty exciting to hear. Carson and I got home, and at about 10 p.m. it seemed like I was having contractions that were pretty consistent. They ended up lasting all night long and even into the early morning, so we went back to the hospital to see if I was progressing any. I was examined and the nurse told us that the nurse who examined me last night was wrong, I was not 3 centimeters at all, but more like 1-2 centimeters. Carson was very disappointed and frustrated which is understandable. So we went home and at about noon my contractions just seemed to stop completely. I had a lot of bleeding from my examination and was watching that most of the day and night.
Tuesday, August 24th, I woke up after a nice and very long sleep that was very much needed. I had the nesting feeling big time, and also had some bloody show with some discharge in the early afternoon. I was hoping this was a sign of good things to come in the next day or two. Dorian was still moving, but not as much so I was making sure I took time out to feel him move through out the day.
I was also feeling increased pressure that day but brushed it off as nothing to serious.
Wednesday and Thursday went by with continues mild cramping but nothing too painful, but on Friday night it was getting more intense and we went into the hospital on Saturday morning at 6 a.m.. I was told then that I was still 2 centimeters so we went home. My contractions got worse as the day went on and very painful. We ended up going back to the hospital at 6 p.m., I was told I was 3 centimeters an I was begging for an epidural. I got the epidural and felt better for a short time.
I was checked again at about 11 p.m. and I was 5 centimeters!! Wow that was great, we were happy to hear that, but that was the end of it. I never progressed any further after that. My cervix was getting swollen and I was in so much pain in the vaginal area, I could have passed out!
At 4 a.m. I was begging them to shut the oxytocin off that they started giving me at around 11 p.m. (when they also broke my water), cause it was making the contractions come one on top of the other and I could feel them all. It was finally shut off at about 5-5:30, and I was being prepped for my c-section.
I remember everything that went on in the OR, but I was so tired I just layed on the table with my eyes shut until Dorian was out.
I cried so much when I saw him, tears of joy of course, the journey was finaly over and we finaly had a healthy baby.
My pregnancy was so emotianl because of our previous misscarriage that I constantly worried about everything.
I was so glad that Dorian was born and I felt like I had some kind of control over his life now.
