Unlike Comunism, Fascism allowed industry to remain held by a independant owner. Created from the ideas of Mussolini who was disapointed with Italy's small land gains. Made up of nationalists, anticommunists, antidemocrats, and expansionists. A severly strict Government. Promised Italians prosperity. The party became powerful enough to make the king of Italy grant Mussolini the position of prime minister. The Nazi Fascist Party was called the National Socialist German Workers' Party in Germany. Was overthrown when Italy surrendered to the Allies (1943).
Unlike Fascism, Communism required that all industries are owned by the Government. Based on the teaching of Lenin and Marx, these theories were called Marxism-Leninism. (Communism means: Belonging to all) Stalin was (eventually) the leader or the Communist Party. Communists sought public ownership or control of the means of production. Communist Party demanded strict compliance from the members. The Soviet Union didnt allow other political party to oppose the Communist Party. Did not allow the use of hired labor for private gain.
Notes: Totalitarianism as a Whole
Totalitarianism is a modern dictatorship that means 'Total Control'. It did not stress indivdualism and perferred everything and everyone to be the same. This includes uniform religion, socialism and intellectualism. Logical workers depicted a threat to society. Along the lines of a uniform ruling, Totalitarianism called for a one person authority, otherwise known as absolute rule. This absolute ruler was most likely an autocratic ruler; someone who is not responsible for anyone, and doesn't follow thier own laws and regulations (and get away with it). To get ahold of this control, certain implements were needed. Organization was needed to keep things in some order. Communication included freedom of the press, which was not allowed. The government was in charge of all newspapers and media and they published only thier thoughts and beliefs. Propaganda was used by many leaders to pursuade people into following them through thier rise of power. Opposite of propaganda, yet the outcome usually the same, was coercion of terror. This is when leaders convince through means of terror such as violence. However, propaganda was more sufficiant, coercion of terror can only last so long due to the people who stand up against it.
