When Aniston auditioned for a pilot of the show Friends Like Us (obviously later renamed Friends), she was originally tested for "Monica" but found the part of Rachel more comfortable. Once she landed the role of Rachel Green in Friends, she became a household name-scores of women flocked to their hairdressers to demand the Rachel 'do. Aniston emerged as "the sexy Friend," although co-stars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow could hardly be considered short on looks. She has now joined the ranks of celebrity status, her fame increased even more by L'Oreal adverts (only shown in Europe).
Aniston fanpages emerged all over the Internet, and her followers compiled episode lists and spent hours discussing whether Rachel and Ross (David Schwimmer) would finally break the sexual tension and just do it. The fact that Aniston has managed to gain such a following for playing a ditsy, spoiled waitress who's a little on the bitchy side is a tribute to her appeal. Aniston and her castmates have parlayed their fame into quite a cash cow. She has also plugged a video tutorial for Windows '95 with Matthew Perry, posed in milk ads with fellow Friend' Lisa Kudrow, and has mugged with all her Friends for Diet Coke. She even appeared in an esoteric NBC public service announcement, where she declared with a soulful gaze: "Smart is sexier than stupid any day."
Every Friend has a movie deal, and Aniston is leading the pack as far as film roles go. She made She's the One for director Edward (The Brothers McMullen) Burns on her weekends off from Friends. Aniston shrugged off the criticism, and has gone on to complete 'Til There Was You, Dreams for an Insomniac, and Picture Perfect. Better received than all her initial movie roles was her wistful, charming lead performance in Nicholas Hytner's witty adaptation of the Stephen McCauley novel The Object of My Affection, in which Aniston played a social worker who falls in love with her gay roommate. Also under Aniston's belt are three comedies for Twentieth Century Fox- Office Space, Someone Like You, and How to Date a Congressman. Then there's her latest flick playing Mark Wahlberg's girlfriend in Rock Star; where rumour is that she kisses a woman!!! On the personal front, Jennifer recently married hunk Brad Pitt in a private wedding with just close friends and family. Jennifer wore a beautiful white silk dress, and all of her Friends castmates attended except for Matt LeBlanc who was filming a movie in Europe. Now rumours are stirring that Jennifer is pregnant, which her and her husband have vehemently denied. But they haven't made discreet their urge to have a family- "I always thought two or three children, but Brad's definitely seven...he loves the idea of having a huge family." Jennifer definitely deserves the best kind of happiness there is and she'll always be one of my favourite friends. |
