My Favorite Scents
(c) Nicole Hall 2002
I love the scent of the air just before it rains,
lilacs in the spring the odor of freshly cut grass.
I love the smell of the earth
that has laid dormant under a carpet of damp leaves.

I love the smell of the salty ocean air
and coconut tanning oil.
I love the smell of autumn leaves
crunching beneath my feet.

I love smelling a mossy, damp forest.
I love the smell of pine trees and fresh sap
oozing from the colorful maple on a New England hillside.

I love the fragrance of newly fallen snow.
I love the aroma of a freshly bathed baby.
I love the smell of puppy breath as he licks my face.

I love coming in from the cold
entering a warm kitchen
with things bubbling on the stove and in the oven.
I love the smell of apple pie and fresh baked bread.
I love how I can smell a ripe pineapple before it is cut open.
Coffee...I love the smell of freshly brewing coffee.

Above all this, I love the smell of my man
when my face is buried in his neck.
