We moved to Ararat, Virginia. After the scare about Uranium, which was in the ore, dad gave up mining and came east to raise fruit.
We moved to Mount Airy, North Carolina. Mom doesn't drive, so this move put her withing walking distance of work and church.
Attended J J Jones Elementary School, in Mt Airy NC. Majored in being a smart trouble maker.
My uncle Earnest Eaton took me trout fishing, for the first of many times, and I have been hooked on fishing ever since! Also this was the year that my dad put me to work. We leased a peach orchard, and dad bought a place of his own. We worked together for the next 9 years.
Attended Mt. Airy Junior High School. In the GT (Gifted and Talented) program, now called Advanced Placement.
Attended Mt. Airy Senior High School. Graduated with honors.
Joined U S Army, and moved to Ft. Dix NJ for Basic Training for two months.
Moved to Ft Belvoir, VA, for Army Advanced Individual Training and got married, while at home on Christmas leave.
Moved to Fort Riley, KS as a permanant duty station. Made four one month long trips to Ft. Irwin, CA for desert training.
Attended the US Army NCO Academy's Primary Leadership and Developement course.
I went to the Persian Gulf, for Operation Desert Storm. What a Christmas present! Spent a lot of time in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq. Also saw Amsterdam, Brussels, Germany, and Rome on the way over and back.
Returned home from the Gulf War, and received a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service.
Amber was born. And life has not been the same since!
Got out of the Army as a Corporal, and moved back to NC. I was on the E-5 promotions list for 2 1/2 years, but because os "stop-loss" there were very, very few promotions at all. Still got the hard stripes because of the leadership positions that I was placed in.
Attended Surry Community College in Dobson, NC. Graduated with honors with two AAS degrees, one in Business, and one in Accounting.
My former father-in-law bought a bassboat, and I started to fish for bass!
Alexis was born. And life will never, ever be the same again! She had hip-displasia, and was in a full body cast for 6 months. She started to walk while in it, and started to run as soon as she got out of it. She hasn't stopped since!
Joined the King BassMasters bass club, and started to fish competitively.
Caught a 6.59 pound large-mouth bass at B Everett Jordan Lake, near Raleigh, NC, in a tournament. Its my largest yet!
Seperated after 12 years of marriage. I moved to Cana, VA. living in a rental house owned by my sister.
Caught a winning stringer of fish at Smith Mountain Lake, near Roanoke, VA. This was my first tournament win!
Divorce finalized.
My dad passed away after a short gruelling battle with COPD, and pneumonia, and a heart attack. All at once.
What is next? Who Knows? Live life in the most enjoyable way possible. We are never guaranteed a tomorrow!
