| To be frank, we hope this music makes you laugh. As we wrote and played each song, we had to use every last measure of self-control to refrain from laughing hysterically while recording. Yet, while this is meant for fun and laughter, there is also a serious motive behind this "madness". As a band, our goal is to raise the awareness among our Christian brothers and sisters concerning the message that a song is truly delivering. We firmly believe that songs are pragmatic, that is, they seek to accomplish something within the singer and listener through that very act of singing and listening. No song is neutral in this regard. Carrying this point of view into the life of the Christian church of today, we were mortified at the poor theology - in fact, HERESY - that plagues the music that currently saturates much contemporary worship. This is now our mission: we seek to carefully craft lyrics and music that are pleasing to the ear and that carry an apparently "pious" message, while, in fact, thoroughly representing heresies common throughout the history of the Church. We hope that our music might be used as a practical lesson for learning discernment. We hope that our audience might, after laughing, learn to more carefully choose which songs they sing when "praising" their Lord. Laugh well and God Bless! ~Passion~ |
| Fans of Passion: Due to conflicts of theological interest, the band has drawn to a halt. Tell me what you think: Does singing intentionally heretical songs for the sake of pedagogy violate the 2nd Commandment (cf. Luther's explanation: "in everything pray, praise, and give thanks")? If you have a good answer, email me at [email protected] Thanks and God Bless! |
