Abrams -- and which won the People's Choice Award for Favorite New Drama, returns for an exciting second season in the life of multi-faceted double agent Sydney Bristow (Ms. Garner, Golden Globe Award winner for her role in the series).
Traveling around the world. Fighting with the bad guys. Leading a double life. Wrestling with her inner demons. For grad student Sydney, this is a typical day in her life at her not-so-typical after-school job as an agent for SD-6, a supposed black-ops division of the CIA.
Since being recruited freshman year, Sydney has learned the harsh truth about SD-6 - whose number one rule is not to divulge your identity to anyone. After telling her fianc�, Danny, about her life as an agent, Danny was killed and Sydney found her own life was in mortal danger. She then discovered that her long-estranged father, Jack (Victor Garber), was also SD-6 and that the organization was covering up a nefarious plan - they are not a branch of the CIA but actually an enemy of the United States.
With nowhere else to turn, Sydney sought the aid of the real CIA in the hope of putting SD-6 out of business. She was put under the command of operations officer Michael Vaughn (Michael Vartan), who enlisted Sydney to become a double agent. She also discovered that her secretive father was a double agent seeking her same goals. Their mission is to complete their cases at SD-6 while reporting their findings back to the CIA.
Not knowing the outcome of Vaughn's fate since his watery encounter, Sydney's world begins to take an even darker turn when her long-lost mother (Lena Olin) - the leader of a rogue organization obsessed with collecting and piecing together a mysterious Rambaldi device -- comes back into the picture with an agenda that will place her daughter's life in jeopardy. And Mr. Sark (David Anders), a young and wildly ambitious freelancer whose close alliance with 'The Man' wreaked havoc on SD-6, promises to be a strong presence in the spy universe.
As for Jack, while he continues to adapt to his role as a father, his life is thrown into turmoil as old wounds are opened with the unexpected re-emergence of his supposedly deceased wife.
Complicating matters further is Sydney's SD-6 partner and friend, Dixon (Carl Lumbly), whose suspicions about Sydney's activities threaten their relationship and make him question where her true allegiances lie.
Within SD-6, Arvin Sloane (Ron Rifkin), now a full partner in the malevolent Alliance of Twelve, finds himself faced with the inherent burdens that come with his advanced position; and Marshall (Kevin Weisman), SD-6's brilliant yet socially inept gadget maker, seeks to make his greatest creation ever.
Meanwhile Sydney's friend, Will (Bradley Cooper), a newspaper reporter, has been inadvertently sucked into her world and becomes reluctantly involved in it, while roommate Francie (Merrin Dungey), in the midst of putting together her dream of opening a restaurant, remains unaware of Sydney's true identity - but for how long?

After Sydney accepted an assignment to be a member of a new black ops sector of the CIA, known as APO, she was shocked to discover that Sloane was heading up the unit. Without an ounce of trust for her nemesis, Sydney kept a watchful eye on him, as did Vaughn, Dixon and Marshall. But she had to keep her suspicions in tow while working with her half-sister and Sloane's daughter, Nadia, in order not to alienate her and lose her trust. But Sydney was hard-pressed to define the enigma that is Sloane when he shot his own daughter in order to save Sydney's life while thwarting the devastating effects of the Rambaldi endgame. Meanwhile, Jack's near-death experience and the truth behind why he had wrongly believed he killed his ex-wife and Sydney's mother, Irina Derevko, strengthened the bond between father and daughter; and fianc� Vaughn's revelation that he may not be the man Sydney thought he was caught her completely off guard, and a horrendous car accident left their fates in limbo.

Even more gripping and emotional events are in store for Sydney. After they both survive the crash, she learns that the man she has known as Michael Vaughn is under investigation and suspected of being a double agent. She questions whether their business and personal relationship over the years had all been a lie. When Sydney discovers that she is pregnant with Vaughn's baby, she is determined to uncover the truth about him. Meanwhile, because of Jack's past betrayal by Irina, he begins to worry that his daughter may suffer the same fate as he did. He will also have to deal with the fact that he will soon become a grandfather - while still learning how to be a dad. Sloane will have to do some soul-searching of his own, as he makes an unholy alliance in his desperate fight to find a cure for Nadia - who is still in a coma.

New agents will be introduced and a nefarious organization will come to light in Sydney's life as she fights to protect her unborn child -- all the while traveling incognito, outsmarting the bad guys and keeping the world safe.
