| Phosphor sighed as his mom fussed over him for the fifth time that morning. His mom had been in mother hen mode ever since they had moved. Their new apartment was small and reflected the fact that there was only one income supporting his small family. It didn't help that he spent a lot of money on comics and various other important objects. After glancing at the cat clock on the wall he realized he'd be late to school if he didn't hurry. "Mommy stop worrying about me! I'll be fine," he whined as he struggled to get out of his moms grasp and out the door. Finally she released her hold on him and gazed at him with a loving look. "Phosphor of course I'm going to worry about you. I'm your mom. Now get going," she said with a few tears threatening to leak out of her eyes. "Oh! And don't forget your lunch." "I won't forget," was the yelled reply as Phosphor ran out the door with his backpack, umbrella and lunch. "Promise!" "Have a good day!" She yelled to him as he started down the long stairwell. Leaping down the steps two at a time Phosphor made good time towards the exit. However, as he landed on the bottom platform and started out the door a teen with dishwater blond hair put out his foot to trip him. He had been in such a hurry to get to school that he had completely missed the teenager. With a loud thud! He fell flat on his face part way through the open door way. "Owwww! What was that for you jerk?!"' Before Phosphor could get up and retaliate a black boot stomped down on his back pinning him to floor. "Don't move short stuff. I just need your umbrella." Reaching down the young man grabbed Phosphors black umbrella and yanked it out of his hand. "Hey! Give that back you asshole!" Came the prompt reply. He struggled to get up but it was no use. He struggled even harder as the teenager suddenly laughed at him. "No can do. Its gonna rain today and I forgot mine," sneering he pressed harder on his back. "Have a good day runt." Lifting his boot from Phosphors back the stranger quickly stepped out the door and opened the umbrella as the first rain drops started to fall. Grumbling darkly under his breath Phosphor got back up on his feet and started to brush off the dirt on his new shirt. Suddenly he realized that he was going to be late to school if he didn't hurry. "Shit! I'm gonna be late!" Dashing out the doorway and into the rain he ran towards his new school. Rain pelted his body quickly soaking him. As he ran down the street he noticed that large black raven was following him. 'Why is that stupid bird following me?' he thought. After a few more blocks and the bird hadn't stopped staring at him as it followed him. Phosphor finally decided to do something about it. He stopped suddenly and grabbed a rock from the street. The raven landed on a lamppost and stared at him. "Stupid bird! Leave me alone!" Throwing the rock as hard as he could at the raven he paused to see if it hit. The stone missed by at least five feet. Squawking the raven took flight and start dive bombing Phosphor. "Ow! Ow! Ow! Stop it you dumb bird!" His words only seemed enrage the raven even farther. It redoubled its attack on him. Phosphor took off running even faster through the rain into order to escape the evil raven. As soon as he dashed into the schoolyard the raven stopped its attacks on him. It landed on a window ledge and went back to staring at him. He ran into the school just as the bell rang. "Damn it." After getting lost and stuck he finally managed to find the correct classroom. It hadn't helped that an upper classmen had given him helpful directions and a one trip into an empty locker. Luckily for him a janitor was used to this happening and checked periodically for under classmen stuck in lockers. The janitor directed him to correct classroom with a chuckle. "Have a good day," he said cheerfully. Once again he was cursed with the saying "Have a good day." It didn't help that all of his classmates had laughed at him when dashed into the classroom late and dripping wet. "You must be Phosphor. I'm so glad you could schedule my class into today," a sarcastic voice greeted him. "You must be very important to think you can be late to my class." At that most of the class chuckled at him once again. "I didn't mean to?" before he could finish the teacher waved his hand in dismissal. "I don't want to hear excuses young man." Glancing around the room the teacher finally decided where to have Phosphor sit. "Sit there," he said pointing to a seat in front of a boy with black haired pulled back into a ponytail. His bangs were blood red and dangled in front of his face like snakes. Dark green eyes had an angry sneer to them as he looked back. Smirking at Phosphor he nodded his head in acknowledgement. Before Geb could do anything to Phosphor the teacher spoke up. "Geb don't harass the new student. I don't need any more interruptions." "Hai, hai [1] Zeller-sensei [2]." Taking his seat next to Geb Phosphor set down his books and started to pay attention to class. As soon as he was seated the teacher went back to lecturing about the history of Japan. Before he could really bored with the lecture Geb stabbed him in the back of the neck with a pencil. Turning around to glare at the smirking Geb he decided it was going to be a very long day. End Notes: Well here it is, chapter one of the story. The chapters will be of various lengths, depending on my mood, school, and how many e-mails I get. Now for the notes: [1] Hai means yes in Japanese [2] Sensei means teacher. It is added on as a suffix to the teacher's names to be respectful. Now...if you wanna go indepth, I (K. Wai) am takin' Japanese woot! ^_^ I rather liked it....poor Phosphy-chan. Hai is a normal "yes" sometimes girls use "Ee"(sounds like saying thew vowel long A) and Sensei generally can be applied to any master of something, though it is mainly teachers. |
