A former Lake Charles resident, Deborah C. Johnson, is venturing into the uncharted world of e-publishing. Her first novel, The Narrow Journey, was recently published by Xlibris, a strategic partner of Random House Ventures. The Narrow Journey tells the story of Lucie Trosclair, a poor, uneducated Cajun girl growing up in the Southwest Louisiana of the late 19th century. By using her determination, quick wit and wicked sense of humor, Lucie survives the narrow journey to adulthood. In this journey, Trosclair travels to New Orleans, Leavenworth and the Colorado Rockies, meeting as she goes such colorful characters as alligator wrestlers, buffalo hunters, and Cajun cowboys. Selections from the novel can be found at the author's web site at www.geocities.com/lucietrosclair2000/. The entire novel is available at Xlibris.com, Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and Borders.com. It can also be ordered from your local bookstores. The author was born and raised in Lake Charles, and graduated from LaGrange High School. Johnson attended McNeese before moving to Columbia, SC with her husband in 1972. She earned a master's degree in education from the University of South Carolina, and presently teaches at the Bethel-Hanberry Elementary School in Columbia.
