"A Golden Moment"

by LucidLady

She walked gracefully over the white, sun kissed sand.  The gentile sway of her hips the only indication of why she was there.  Then on the horizon he appeared.  His tall figured framed by the last radiant beams of the golden sun.  Her flesh toned tongue moistened cherry painted lips as she waited in anticipation for her beloved to finally be by her side.
It had been a year since the last time he had held her.  War!  She could not comprehend how three letters could contain such ugliness with in them.  It caused pain and sorrow.  Ripped life violently from the world.  Yet it was happening now.
They had come with vengeance.  Red sun planes filled the sky hour after hour.  Nothing was spared.  Magnificent battle ships became graves for thousands.  Proud fighter planes reduced to scrap metal before being able to leave the ground.  Not even the shelter of the hospital had been spared.  Now the nation they had both vowed to serve was knee deep in blood.
The moments they had where few.  But he was here now.  At her side like fate had intended it to be.  They would spend the next few days together in a paradise all there own.  Smiling and laughing.  Loving and crying.  It was how it was.  How it would be until peace was aloud to reign again.  But for now they had moments.
Moments they cherished deeply.  They were together now.  She did not know how long he would be by her side, but they were together now.  She delighted in his touch.  His hands gentile just for her.  She dwelled in the safety of his strong arms.  She was lost in the emotional sea of his foam colored eyes.  He was hers and she was his.  The world didnt matter as long as they were together.  Together under the net of diamonds that came from the glorious pinks, reds, and golds of sunset.
He pulled her close, resting his head atop hers.  Her flaming curls were soft to his coarsely shaved cheek.  Her perfume intoxicated his senses like the rarest of Frances wines.
How long?  she asks breathlessly.
Three days, he whispers in her petite ear.  Her sigh is heavy and full of regret.
Then we will make do, she states as she turns in his arms to face him.
Definately, he murmurs as he leans in to capture her lips with his own.
They stayed like that for an hour.  People who passed by thought nothing of them.  They were just a couple making out on the beach.  No one cared that they had dedicated their lives to the service of their country.  She in the navy as a nurse and he in the army as a pilot.  They were just a couple making out on the beach.
