Detroit Rock City has been breeding musical legends of the past century. After all, most of the creative folk out there base their great sounds and influences on the pioneers of different genres. It began with the Motown. Not only were superstars born, but also the barrier of races were put to rest after these African-American greats put their skills to the test. Shortly following was the punk era. Iggy Pop and the Stooges paved the way for acts like the MC5 to make some real noise. As the millennium approached hip-hop with an infusion of rock introduced the world to Kid Rock and Eminem. Lets not forget about all those other forefathers who also acted as inspiration to the arts like John Lee Hooker, Madonna, Bob Seger, and Alice Cooper. After all, when Detroit makes their mark on anything, nothing is done halfway.

Everyone in this day and age longs for a lucid vision. Whether it applies to lifes situations or in the case of four young men from Detroit including Christian (Bass/back-up vocals); Jim Sparks (drums); Mike Batke (rhythm guitar); and Nate Anderson (lead guitar and vocals), who have made it their life goal to be addicted to their perfect sound that fits their ideals of what the worlds all about. Of course, they had their internal battles, after all, configuring their sound to appeal to the masses, while at the same time keeping their integrity to create the sound they can proudly call their own. Through a few line-up changes, which included slight genre adjustments, Lucid Jones have finally come into their own element. If I had to make a comparison to what we sound like, I would have to say a more mature, rough around the edges, straight up pop rock band, Nate Anderson commented.

After receiving rave reviews from the regional critics for their debut album self-titled Lucid Jones, the band followed up with an extreme substantial sophomore release entitled, Code. When I was writing Code, I was going through a lot of personal situations, in which I didnt really know where I stood in life, Anderson stated. Its funny everytime Im writing I began to learn so much about myself, it seems to have a way of opening up my eyes and making me more aware of my surroundings. It especially makes me look at whats going on in my life at the time. One track in particular, Constellation, gained The Most Added Title In the Country, according to Gavins tracking, beating out artists like J.Lo, City High, and Aerosmith. In addition to winning over different markets through radio, Lucid Jones has been sharing the stage with different heavyweights in the regional area like Evan and Jaron, Uncle Kracker, The Calling, Michelle Branch and most recently, Bliss 66.

Were in the right place, living in Detroit right now, Anderson concludes. Besides the fact that there are so many great acts coming out of this state right now, the new stuff that were working on right now, I believe may be ahead of the times. In addition to steering clear of music that is overproduced with loops, were creating music that when you hear the recorded version is the same thing youre going to hear live. A style and sound that we can be confident with that it is our absolute best.
