RENAISSANCE ART
Jan Van Eyck
(
The Arnolfini Marriage, 1434, National Gallery, London, 82 x 60 cm)

I like this picture because it is full of simbolism, so typical of the Renaissance Art. The candles, the slippers, the dog, the fruits, are all purposefully placed on the painting. What I most like, though, is the originality of the artist in drawing a mirror reflecting his own image. Later, this was done by other artists, too. But keep in mind that Van Eyck painted this picture in 1434!
