My dad won my mom's heart with his love poems. My name in Chinese is the title of a well-known poem. It is not a surprise therefore, that I grew up in the midst of poetic inspiration. For me, poetry is the closest thing to perfection that the imperfect human language can achieve. Writing poetry is the way that people let their souls speak out. Unfortunately, because of that, translating poetry is always a very hard task. My closest contact has been with poems in Portuguese, and thus most of my favorite poems are in this language. For those who do not understand them, I'll get a translation as soon as possible, so you too, can have a slight idea of how my favorite poets deal with life and feelings.
Cecilia Meireles By far, my most favorite poet. Her poems are perfect jewels: classic format, rhymes, metric, and deep emotions. Many times they are like songs talking about life, time, and the human being. Few are truly love poems. But that does not mean she didn't reflect all her deep emotions in her perfect lines.
