The new team of Osasco, led by attackers Luciana (23 years) and Juliana (21) and levantadora Ana Cristina (20), were presented officially this Tuesday morning, in So Paulo. The first competition of the teams will be the Regional Games, in July, in Caeiras. "Once again, I am like the mother of the young one's", says the levantadora Fernanda Venturini, 32 years old, who will go try to conquest the 11. Brazilian heading of her career. "One day I was the youngest member of the group and now I am oldest. I will certainly try to teach and I can see that I will have more work this year than the previous one when the players were more experienced." Captain of the team, Fernanda finds that the new players have already gained some experience in the sport. "They are girls with approximately ten years of playing vlei, some with exposure in international matches so they will be able to adapt to the teams rhythm of play." believes the athlete, who joins the training with the team in August. "We have to work very hard if we are going to duplicate a very successful past year." Aside from Fernanda Venturini, BCN can count on the experienced Bia, selected as the best player of the last Superliga, for next season, and on Valeskinha, of the Brazilian election. Also in the team are Paula, Lgia, Mari, Ver, Daniela and Jaqueline. "It will be an enormous challenge, but I will want to be prepared", guarantees Luciana Nascimento, former Blue Life/Pinheiros. "I want to help the BCN conquer new and defend all the titles won last season." The president of the Associao Desportiva Classista BCN, Celso Barbuto, also wants the team to repeat the "wonderful campaign" of 2002/2003 and trusts the work of the group. He remembers, however, that the adult teams is the most visible of Project BCN Sports, that also count on teams of vlei and basquete in the categories of base and a good work of formation in 81 nuclei, kept in partnership with the city hall of Osasco. According to manager of sports of the BCN, Sergio Negro, about 4.200 girls from ages 10 to 15 years are part of the nuclei. "Thanks to a partnership with the State Secretariat of Education, we could increase the number of children", comments the former-trainer of vlei. "It is an important social work, since the girls learn, aside from the sport, some knowledge on hygiene, and how to combat drugs and the precocious pregnancy." "Credit to the saint" The technician Jose Robert Guimares goes back this Tuesday as Head Coach of BCN after fulfilling a promise for the conquest of the heading of Superliga. He walked about 800 kilometers in 28 days to Santiago de Compostela, in Spain. "It was a fantastic experience, that I do not intend to repeat", the trainer says, who suffered with tendonitis in the feet and was able to complete the distance thanks to anti-inflammatory analgesics. "The pain was terrible and I was barely able to put my feet in the soil." Despite everything, the Z pilgrim strengthened his faith. "I find that I have to give credit to the saint for our winning Superliga this season", plays the technician, who waits to have another victorious season for the team. "The expectations are the same as last year. We only want to keep the image of a hard working and winning team. We count on a new group, of 23 years of average, and higher." In season 2002/2003, the BCN disputed 70 competitions, two of them represented by the youthful teams, and obtained 63 victories and five championships. Beyond the Native of So Paulo and Superliga, the team of Osasco also gained the Games, the Open Games of the Interior and the Salonpas Cup. ZDL Regional - Joo Peter Nunes |
