| 02/06/2003 BCN starts preparations for new season The athletes had initiated a series of medical examinations until the end of the week Osasco (SP)- The players of BCN, current S�o Paulo and Brazilian champion, were presented this Monday morning, in Osasco, having given beginning to the activities of season 2003/2004. The team was received by the president of the ADC BCN, Antonio Celso Barbuto and the manager of Sports, Sergio Negr�o. The attackers Luciana and Juliana and the levantadora Ana Cristina, who have just been signed-in, have been the new players that have already undergone a series of medical examinations. The coaching staff was represented by the physical trainer Jose Elias de Proen�a, since their coach, Jose Robert Guimar�es is in Spain, having fulfilled the promise to cover the 880 km of Santiago de Compostela. Sergio Negr�o welcomed the athletes and presented the professionals who work in the most different areas of the team. He also pointed out the program of BCN Sports, which takes care of about 4.200 children in the periphery of Osasco, aside from about 160 athletes who defend BCN in the field of v�lei and basquete. The players that were presented are : Bia, Jaqueline, Mari, Ver�, Daniela, L�gia, Ana Cristina, Luciana and Juliana. The levantadora Fernanda Venturini, the captain of the team, will be presented in the beginning of August, while Paula and Valeskinha are defending the Brazilian election. After the meeting, the players had initiated the ortop�dica, postural and odontol�gica evaluation. According to Z� Elias, the examinations have the objective to trace the profile of each athlete. "The selection is foreseen clinical, in which they will carry through laboratoriais examinations, oftalmol�gico, gynecological odontol�gico and. Also we are making a ortop�dica evaluation and of position ", she explained. In the passed season, the BCN conquered the bi-championship of the Salonpas Cup, the hexa-campeonato of the Open Games of the Interior, the S�o Paulo tetracampeonato and the headings of National Superliga and the Regional Games. Moreover, they were runner-up of the Grand Prix V�lei Brazil. The calendar foresees the following competitions for season 2003/2004: 20 the 26 of July, Regional Games, in Caieiras; 23 of August beginning of the S�o Paulo Championship (it dates to confirm); 1� the 7 of September Grand Prix V�lei Brazil; the 13 19 of October Open Games of the Interior, in Saints; 11 the 16 of November Superpantry of the Champions; e of 30 of November until the April end National Superleague.
