| The year 2002 was special for the attacker of the feminine Brazilian selection of v�lei, Luciana Nascimento. Now, Luciana once again joins the selection to repeat its good performance last season. It has three weeks training with the group that prepares for the two first challenges of the season - the Montreux Volley Masters, from June 3 to June 8, in Switzerland, and the Grand Prix, from July 18 to Aug10, in Asia -, Luciana knows that she will have to strengthen herself to guarantee her place again. "In the passed year, I did not give up at any moment. Exactly knowing that I arrived as invited, I strengthened myself very much and I fought for a spot. When I had the possibility to be in the group between the bearers, I used it to my advantage. But I know that this year is going to be different. It will be a new group, but my determination will be the same to keep my spot in the team", said the player, of 22 years and 1,89 m. Contented for being in the selection once again, Luciana is taking advantage of this training season to recoup her physical form. "The beginning of the season will be beneficial for me because I am still recovering from a physical injury. In Superliga, playing for Blue Life/Pinheiros, I had injured my heel and was not able to perform 100%. But now I am well and I am recouping to be in my best physical form ", the player counted. The year promises added challenges for Luciana. "I know that I will have to be at my best to be in the team. Coach Marco Aur�lio talked with me and said that, probably, he must use me as attacker and not as opposing, as in the last year. Therefore, I will have to train sufficiently in that position. I find that I will not have much difficulty adapting because in Blue Life/Pinheiros I was already playing in this position ", she pointed out. For trainer Marco Aur�lio, Luciana did well in her debut in the selection and, now, needs to gain consistency in her playing. "She had a good participation and helped the team in decisive matches. But she presented high and low points during the season. Now she needs to be more consistent. This improvement is part her technical growth and I am certain that she will go obtain this goal. Luciana is young, intelligent and already shows her potential ", praised Marco Aur�lio. |
