Topic Sentence: The topic sentence is the first sentence in a paragraph. (La oración de asunto es la primera oración en un párrafo.)

Supporting Details: They come after the topic sentence, making up the body of a paragraph. (Vienen después de la oración de asunto, componiendo el cuerpo de un párrafo.)

Closing Sentence: The closing sentence is the last sentence in a paragraph (La oración de cierre es la oración pasada en un párrafo).

Kind soft Paragraphs:

Definition: Paragraphs (para - beside, graphs - written) literally meant in ancient Greek papyri anything that was written beside the main text, e.g. marginal note or sign to mark the close or beginning of a sentence. There are many variants of this symbol. The Greek paragraph is usually placed at the beginning of the line but it may refer to a break in the text at any point in the line. In a drama it can indicate the change of persons. The symbol itself is supposed to have developed from Greek gamma (Γ or γ) as from graphs.

Writing Practice Exercise #1

General Instructions: Please read the instructions for each part of the exercise. 

(a) Write one topic sentence for each of the following topics:

Write paragraphs: 

(a) One Definition paragraph of at least seven sentences.
